Just wanted to see if we had any more of a plan or location at this point for the 8th, I mean 13th http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif .
Also wanted to bring this back onto the front page to see if others want to join! |
Senor Hamachi, thanks for getting this bumped up and getting everyone psyched for a Parisian outing! See you on/in the 8th http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif? Ha!
Everyone: Yes,I have a plan... Let's meet at the Brasserie de La Poste in the 16th arrondissment at 8 pm. They have a small area for drinks and then we may stay there for dinner (I have eaten there several times and enjoyed it) or move somewhere else, depending on the crowd we form! There are at least 1/2 dozen recommended restaurants in the area (ranging from tradition Bistro and Brasserie fare to Vietnamese and contemporary French as well) Yes, there are some low fat offerings and some Cholesterol kickers as well! Several of these restaurants are listed in Patricia Wells book, Food Lover's Guide to Paris. I dont wholly rely on such guides, but the recommended ones I have dined in seem to live up to the billing, if not more. More importantly!... Directions to Brasserie de La Poste: As it's name implies, it is across from the post office (Poste), on 54 Rue Longchamp. Take the metro (lines 6 or 9) to Trocadero. Exit to Ave. Kleber (walk past the Sony shop, the Gap, Butte Chaillot Restaurant...)Take the 1st left, onto Rue Longchamp. You should see the yellow Poste sign up the street. You will see the Brasserie ACROSS the street from the Poste at #54. There is a brown awning. If you find yourself at the intersection of rue Longchamp and Ave Poincare, you've gone too far. You may also follow the signs to the Poste (office) or ask someone. I would recommend taking the metro (clean, safe and friendly) unless you know Paris, french or are generally comfortable with bus systems. Neither metro or bus are really difficult to use, but given rush hours and such, the metro is probably the better option for transportation (at least for our get-together.) Did I forget anything? Directions seem ok? I will be around if you need more specific instructions or other help. Please email me privately for this. A Bientot! See you soon SParks p.s. Other landmarks in the area include Palais Chaillot (3 museums housed here, including the Cinematic Museum, Museum of Man and the Marine Museum)with lovely views of the city. Also not far away are the Arc de Triumph, Champs Elysees and Eiffel Tower/Champ De Mars park. Not a bad location I would say! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/cool.gif Everyone is welcome! Let me know if you plan to join us, as I wont make reservations unless the numbers get big. [This message has been edited by Sparks_flying (edited 01-03-2003).] |

Wow! Thanks Sparks, for coming up with what sounds like a great plan (and great directions too)!
Feeling a little guilty that all I've contributed so far is a bump http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif. Buster and I will definitely be there. Looking forward to seeing all of you! Mark |
