Techgirl, don't worry, it isn't personal. Gaucho just LOVES to remind us how miserable and pathetic the lives of us poor workin' folk are.

If he complains one more time about how stressed out he is, I'm gonna boot his backside straight into an Alabama trailer park and see how he likes it there.

Some people....sheesh!

Nonsense. Milady, allow me to make it up to you. How about I visit you in DFW and take you out to dinner...? (perhaps you can explain to me how you manage to get around that airport of yours without losing it) http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif

How could I turn down an invitation like that?! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Okay... it looks like I may be staying all week now out at JFK (I know, I know, but it just makes things MUCH easier).

I still finish up at my client relatively early on Wednesday afternoon so I will head back to the hotel to ditch the suit and come into the city.

What reasonable transit options do you natives recommend for me?

I'm not a native but I was asking the same questions recently so I'll share what I found http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

This site lists about every available option:

If you need to take the subway for any reason, this is a great map!:

Jen -

If youre staying near JFK and working in Long Island - Im assuming you're using a rental car for the week. If thats the case, you could drive in and park near Nobu at 6PM on Wed nite. All traffic is leaving at that time, not coming in. From JFK take the Belt to the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel , drive up the West Side highway for about 1/2 mile, make a right onto Harrison, 2 blocks then left onto Hudson. Park in a lot or if youre lucky, even street parking is free after 6PM.

See this map and search for the blue M20 bus route.

Alternatively - if you can get to the A train from JFK take it to Canal St (its about an hour subway ride) and follow the map above to walk to the restaurant on Hudson & Franklin. Getting home, you could catch the subway with me and I could drive you 15 minutes or so back to your hotel.

Excellent! That will definitely work.

Peaches and I will be at the W NY over the weekend doing girl stuff (shows, shopping, etc.) and then she'll crash in my room at JFK on Sunday night. When I get up at the butt crack of dawn on Monday, she'll shuttle over to JFK to head on north to her client in Ithaca.

Glad that helped.

Just saw The Graduate with Lorraine Bracco.
Recommend it.

Gaucho, my dearest, not only do I remember exactly who you are, I remember exactly who you think you are. You poor, deluded man...

I would actually advise to avoid the belt and the van wyck and use local streets. Both roads are very prone to accidents and with all the construction around jfk who knows.Depending on where you are staying by jfk get out to atlantic ave either via north condunt or the van wyck (676) and straight untill you hit atlantic ave and make a left and head straight for the brooklyn bridge signs. There are lights but it's better than being stuck in traffic.Warning though this route takes you through some not so great area's.Personally I would avoid the hassle and not bring your car into the city.A train from howard beach station may take a while but it's cheap. That's a good way to get into the city going back however ive never rode it at night so wont say how safe it is.Other option is to take the lirr from jamica station and take a cab for the airport bus to get to jamica. If you need any other advice email me

Sadly, something important has come up and I MUST bow out of dinner.

Maybe next time. Have fun.
