Orange County, CA - Tuesday 11/12

Well... my travel for next week has just gotten all tossed up.

To make things easy and avoid two separate flights to the west coast, I'm going to work out of our Irvine/Costa Mesa office for a couple of days.

Anyone up for dinner/drinks on Tuesday night?

newself Nov 8, 2002 4:48 pm

Techy,

I am game for an early dinner as I have a 7am flight on Wednesday. Let me know what works for you.

I'm not sure what time I'll finish up in office that day. I fly in from SEA and get in around 2:30 and then head to our office.

I may teach a training class during their dinner break, but I imagine I will be done there by 6 pm at the latest.

newself Nov 8, 2002 8:13 pm

That will work.

newself - I'll finish work at our office (on Barranca) by 6 pm. I was planning to go to the hotel, check in, and change into more casual clothes. I'm staying by SNA... any suggestions on where we can meet up? I do have a car.

TG - There is a McCormick's & Schmidt's really close by and there is also a Scott's Seafood on Bristol across from the mall. Across from SNA is Gulliver's which has great prime rib and cream corn. Give me a call tomorrow on my cell and we can arrange to meet wherever.

new-zel-f -

McCormick's & Schmidt's is a chain in every city. Do OC proud! Scott's Seafood on Bristol is good but if you are going to spend that kind of dough go to Pinot in the Westin South Coast.

Unfortunately, I will be dining at Staples Center for the 5th night in a row.

auh2o...guess who joined us at the next table at Paco's tonight with newself, shadow, and wharvey?

Phil Jackson and family.

Which provided wharvey with an LA celebrity sighting even on his short layover!

BTW, he asked about you and Stimpy.

Also see shadow's post in:

new-zel-f...

I trust your judgment and it sounds like auh2o has some good recommendations too...

Just pick and post a place and time (7 pm?) and I will be there.

I can't do a late night either... I had my first conference call at 5:30 am and unless I catch Zzzz's on the SEA-SNA flight, I think I'll be dead by 10 pm.

wingless Nov 13, 2002 1:33 am

Uh...I am glad I was not there. I am still a little bit embarrassed about my last encounter with Phil Jackson when SOMEBODY encouraged me to talk to him and I think I was a little too friendly with him.

Thanks to new-zel-f for picking me up and taking me to dinner last night.

Based on successful business development activities in the last week it looks like I will be spending lots of time in the next few months in Seattle, NYC, DC, and Orange Co.

(Which gets cartwheels from she who has been complaining for FAR too long about working in the itty bitty small towns too much!) http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif

I was working that evening.

So where did you end up going to dinner?

newself Nov 17, 2002 2:59 pm

We ended up at Gulliver's for prime rib. We were both in the mood for Martini's and Red Meat! It was great to see you again Jen!

RichardInSF Nov 17, 2002 8:53 pm

Wow, Scott's Seafood is a chain too? There's one in SF and one here in Palo Alto!

Not to mention the one in San Jose. Not sure, but I think the one in San Francisco was the first....at least it was the first one I ate at!

But of greatest interest to FTers, who got the idine miles from Gulliver's?
