Our friend Nathan Detroit has passed on

Nathan Detroit, passed quietly in his sleep early Sunday morning.

Thanks to Nathan for for his kindness to me and for the joy he brought into my life.

Oh, no, I am so sorry to hear this. Friends have kept me posted, but I still wasn't prepared to hear this. I'm glad I had the chance to meet him several times--he will be missed.

Ruhe in Frieden - R.I.P.

I am glad he doesn't have to suffer anymore/any-longer and I am also glad, that he was, for three years, also a part of my life. We shared twice a cheese fondue here in Switzerland, and he always tried to meet me on my short transit-connections at ORD in the UA terminal for a beer at Berghoff's.

Thank you Nathan also, for all the inside stories/knowledge you shared with me about your role in Nazi-hunting in Bavaria right after world-war-II and during/after the Nurnberg-prozess.

I only knew him through his posts but he was always one of the true gentlemen...he will be missed...

Nathan was a true gentleman and will be missed sadly. But alas he will be trading frequent flyer stories with St. Peter, John and Rae. My condolences to the family. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif

Nathan, I will miss you and I thank you for sharing some time with me here. Your spirit is a good one and I will take forward a piece of goodness in my life that I gained because I spent even a small amount of time with you. Thank you.

People I do not know what else to say, but I am very glad today that we are a community at this particular time to be able to share with each other the happy memories we hold of this man and to hold virtual hands for a moment as we reflect on this.

Such sad news. I'm glad I had the pleasure to meet this fine man.

The world is a poorer place for his passing, but a greater place for his having lived. He was charming, always a gentleman and I will miss his posts.

I am going to miss this gentleman. He was my favorite travel companion. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif

I spoke with his wife just a little bit ago. She said that he'd been on morphine for some time, so he wasn't in too much pain these past few months. Just the same I'm glad he's not suffering anymore.

If anyone in the Chicago area is willing, can you send me his obituary?

Never met the man or read any posts, but I wish I could have known him by the way others talk about him. Give my condolenses to the family.

Einar and I are so sorry to hear it. We met Nathan in Singapore last November on our mileage runs. He checked in next to us at the Conrad and I immediately noticed his Flyertalk tags. Naturally, we shared time in the concierge lounge. He truly was one of us and will be missed. I hope someone will forward the messages of sympathy to his wife and family.

My condolences to his family. I have included a link which will take you to his obituary in the Chicago Tribune today.
