How far is that from Alfonso's? Will a RT taxi cost more then renting a car? [/B]</font>
Take the offered ride, a cab round trip will run you about $80!

Is there a RCC at DFW??? My flight out is at Noon on Tuesday.

My schedule is getting all jerked around as the meeting has been moved from DAL to DFW. Right now it looks like I'll be done at the DFW Hyatt around 4pm Monday.

So I'm going to move from the DAL Embassy Suites to something closer to DFW...looks like the Hampton Inn Dallas/Ft. Worth Airport South &lt;IMG SRC="http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/thumbsdown.gif"&gt;.

Matt... yes, there is an RCC at DFW. :-P My flight from ORD arrives around 10:15 am.

You do NOT want to stay at the Hampton Inn DFW South. It is a pit... I think it used to be a Ramada or Best Western in a previous life. I would recommend (if you are car-less) the Embassy Suites North, the Doubletree South, or the Hilton DFW Lakes. ANYTHING but that Hampton. Ick.

You will also need a car... unless you can convince I0123456789 to give you a ride.

Question to all since I also arrive in DFW Tuesday and not too familiar with Ft Worth.

I am staying at the Ashton in Ft Worth for the first time.

How far from Omni (near DFW) will I be?

The Ashton in Fort Worth is about a 40 minute drive (with no traffic) from the Omni Mandalay in Las Colinas (which is, I assume, the one by DFW to which you refer).

nhila Sep 13, 2002 4:56 pm

Yes, that one. I have friends staying at Omni and feel it might be better and easier if I join them there.

Plus, we are looking for the best steak house nearer to either of our hotels for Tuesday night ...

Near the Omni, I highly recommend Pappas Bros Steakhouse. It is my favorite and is a short (five minute) drive from there. The concierge should be able to take care of getting you there with no problems... from there it is easy to find.

If you stay on the Fort Worth side, I would suggest either Reata or Tejas de Brazil... neither is really a steakhouse, but both have a mean cut of red meat and are walkable from The Ashton http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Thanks, Techgirl.

And of course, when I decide which restaurant we will be at (I guess the client always gets his way), any FTers are more than welcome for a first drink on me ... to make up for my past posts ...

Will be in DFW 17th and 18th ...

I'm definitely into carpooling.

As I say, I should be ready to go as early as 5pm...

I'll email everyone listed above my cellular...

Matt - I'm at the Harvey Hotel DFW. I think we're pretty close, but I won't be leaving work until about 6 or so. If you don't get a better offer I'd be happy to take you.

kokonutz Sep 16, 2002 9:47 am

Ok, for ease and convenience, I switched over to the Harvey Suites. I hope that the $69 rate is not indicitive of the place being a dump!!!!

boilermaker: I got your VM, but it was garbled. Since you are making an early evening of it, right now my plan is to catch a ride with IO90210 at 6 or so; hence the hotel switcharoo. But I should be at the hotel bar (assuming there is one) by 5 or 5:30 if you want to have a drink before dinner!!!

I012609 Sep 16, 2002 11:22 am

Matt - the Harvey Hotel is nicer than the Harvey Suites (IMO) and has a bigger bar. But there is indeed a bar at the Harvey suites and you do get a free breakfast there that you don't get at the hotel http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

But it was nice of you to move to the north side as it is more convenient for your chauffer http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

The RCC is at gate B28, if not happy there, try to crash the LH VIP lounge at B36 if you are *Gold.

kokonutz Sep 16, 2002 3:07 pm

Best of both worlds: they put me in a (Embassy-like) suite in the main hotel. I'm headed back over there now...

I'll be at the bar at the main Harvey hotel (it is innovatively named "Lobby Bar" IIRC) in about 40 minutes.

And I do plan to be at the RCC at 10 or 10:15 Tuesday morning.
