SIN again!! Sept. 20-22
I012609 and I have decided that we must be insane. After last weekend in SIN, we're going back again next weekend! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif This time its going to be less of a party and more of a true run, as we'll be doing the infamous 7hr turn-around in SIN. Anyone care to join us? We both got 7-day advance fares of ~$775 (her out of DFW, me out of MIA) completely SWU upgradable. Here's my itinerary: 20Sep UA872 MIA-SFO 20Sep UA805 SFO-SIN (1-stop HKG) 22Sep UA806 SIN-SFO (1-stop HKG) 22Sep UA873 SFO-MIA I090210's is the same, except with domestic connections in and out of DFW. Unfortunately, the int'l upgrades didn't go through immediately, but it still looks pretty open, so we're optimistic. Any takers?? http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif |
lmartin999 and I are doing the same flights except a day later - Sep 21 and Sep 23.
Guess we'll just have to wave in passing! Have a great run! |
Jesus, you two are _completely_, certifiably, nutz!
And how I wish to hell that I could be there to quaff beer and dive into some-kinda-crab delish with y'alls ... http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif <drool> [This message has been edited by essxjay (edited 09-13-2002).] |
No way - your both insane. I knew we talked of going again, but two weeks later? Going to see Grandma so got to pass on this one http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif
I am insanely jealous though |

I'm going to have to sit next to I08675309 across the Pacific and back and put up with statements like "what the h*ll kind of dumb*ss question is that?" the whole way. Ugh, dreading it already. :P [This message has been edited by JSD (edited 09-13-2002).] |
Oh the two of you are just killing me http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gifMy how fast we can get addicted.I would love to join you all but will be leaving for Italy on that day.Now maybe the next run.....
Can you see if you can get some black pepper crab to go please http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif |
As I posted on the Trip Report thread, I had a ticket to go to SIN from 9/5-9/10 to join ya'll, but had to cancel. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif I do, however, still hold a JFK-NRT-SIN ticket for 1/5-1/12 of next year http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif So, if anyone wants to plan ahead and jump start their status quest next year, feel free to drop me an e-mail! Have fun! |
boo hoo...we will be in sin on the following weekend 27th-30, as will a few other folks..
|
FWIW I went 5 Sep - 10 Sep and am back again 28 Sep 1 Oct, so I'll miss you again. Although I did see two folks straggling towards the security check-point in HKG on 10 Sep (de-planing from UA 806 SIN-HKG) who looked pretty worse-for-wear, with fluorescent FT bag tags! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif Happy & safe travels.

And I had a good night's sleep! |
Would be interested in a BKK run in Nov... keep every1 posted.
thanks |
I think I must be insane.

Really tempting! And you two are bypassing NRT and it's Amazing Beer Machine-- I'm surprised! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif
However... best SFO fares are $1100+, so not such a great run. Another time! |
You two are certifiable. At least I'm waiting four weeks http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif. That particular weekend you've selected happens to be my birthday which warrents a wonderful visit from the boyfriend so I'll have to skip it (at least I have a good excuse!).
Just finalized my ticket for Oct 4-6, 7 hour turn, upgrades not confirmed myself. Any other takers? (besides Techgirl) http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif Are you planning on staying at the airport, the transit hotel or going into town? I'm undecided at this point. Count me in for BKK!! Third Nov weekend would be best http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif |

You guys are really crazy. I'm writing this from the Raffles Hotel in SIN after just arriving from ORD. I was in F the whole trip and I am TOAST. It was brutal - and I'm actually staying for almost a week. I swear that I'll never do it again. But work called, so that's why I am here. But to do it so close to another - you guys need to see someone - and quickly!!

so where is the good crab? details, please...

This whole thread is hilarious - and to hear that iluv2fly is back in Singapore and toasted after the trip is a bonus.
I believe that I am tied up this weekend, although it would be fun to hit Lau Pa Sat right off the plane. C'mon, though, a stop at the transit hotel first? http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif |
Well, I012609 and I are sitting in the SFO RCC, having successfully survived the 7-hr turn in SIN. We really are both completely insane in that we agreed that spending 44 hours on an airplane in a weekend was actually pretty fun. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif After the long flight over, we left our bags at Changi and spent the night partying at Boat Quay (where we found a place that would serve us bottles of Tiger beer at 4am - even after all the clubs had closed). We had a brief scare with the upgrade on the HKG-SFO leg, where I'm pretty sure we were the last people to clear the list at the gate, but everything worked out in the end. Highly recommend the trip for anyone who needs the miles on UA. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif |
We're back! Well, back in SFO at least. Had a very fun trip and did a full four hours of partying in SIN at Boat Quay.
I'm ready to go again! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif |
<font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" size="2">Originally posted by JSD: After the long flight over, we left our bags at Changi... </font> Since we are doing this same turn run in two weeks, I would love to have more info on where to park bags overnight at Changi so we can retrace your footsteps. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif |

Also useful to know is that the T1 Transit hotel has showers that are available for use for around S$8 or so. Very useful when you haven't showered in 36 hours. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif |
