You guys are great

Heya,

just wanted to let you know...I spent 3 days in a row just trying to read every possible post. I learned in 3 days more about airtravel than all the hours I spent in planes and on airports in my life.

I am only traveling for pleasure, and due to money and time restrictions..way not as much as I would like. But...I have seen a few planes and airports, in the last years mostly germany-USA and last december Germany-South Africa (Cape Town..great place!).
In fall I will do a big trip to the US (MUC-FRA-IAH-DEN-SAN-ORD-CLE-Ord-SEA-ORD-MUC), and maybe going next spring again to San Diego and doing with a friend from there a day a Milage run (for a newbie..sounds like a fun thing to do, lol).

Well, anyway, just wanted to thank you all for the wonderful posts you make and all the time you spend on it!

See you all in the forum, and who knows, maybe on an airport somewhere some time!

gruezi daydream

how about having a 'nightcap' (so that you can dream at night too, afterwards) at the Nürnberger Bratwurstglöckerl (am Dom) and some Rostbratwürstchen, next time I am in München?

As you know, I used to swear by the "Glockl" as well (and the great Augustiner they served there), but they've gotten too crowded, and too "teuro" for my taste.

Fortunately, I found a substitute that, in my humble opinion, surpasses it in quality of wurst, price, and -gasp- even beer http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/eek.gif!

It's called the Bratwurstherzl, in/near the Victualienmarkt right down from Marienplatz (where the Glockenspiel is, for non-Münchners). A plate of 10 würstchen with side dish is 8 € and the beer is "vom holzfaß" (from a wooden keg) and tastes as good or better than anything else I've tasted in Munich. (It's Hackerbräu, but still quite good.)

They even have a website: www.bratwurstherzl.de .

Rudi, give it a try next time you're in town and let me know what you think.

(Edited to clean up UBB coding)

Well, for the travellers...the food in the "Airbräu", the name comes from its location in the Zentralbereich in the Munich Airport, is everything but bad! Its actually a copycat, the original is called "Fliegerbräu" and close to the old airport. The name "bräu" just says that they brew their own beer! Well, I am a vegetarien and dont drink beer (but they serve also Apfelschorle and great vegetarien food), but my Mom and brother thoroughly tested both and say they are great!
http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif lets not talk about TEuro thought.

Also, a great place to grab a quick lunch or dinner in town is the "Donisl", when you stand in front of the Rathaus, just look to the left and you see it. Below the Ratshaus is the "Ratshauskeller" right of the tourismn agency, they have good food to still reasonable prices (ok, was there last time last year), all bavarian kitchen.

Well, enough off topic (uh...and I still know how to party, even without beer!)

Ahh MUC.. Home of my favorite toys..
I'm there religiously every 3 years saving another few thousand dollars on a new car http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Next time I'm on a run to pick up a new car (Another year or so?) I'll be sure to display the luggage tags prominently and try to get more german than "Ein BigMac Nicht Gurkin!" BTW I can say that in dutch, french or 'real' english if you'd prefer http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Anyone else use the euro-delivery program from Mercedes/BMW/Porche etc?

isn't the "Donisl" the one, some late night guests got some drugs in the beer ... and when they woke up they didn't have a penny anymore to pay the bill? (must have been more than 10 years ago, if I remeber correctly).
