Favorite / Funniest post on FT

I was thinking of my favorite post on FT and thought that we all probably have our own gems...

Here's mine http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/Forum.../004505-2.html

Posted by The AC Lady...

Couldn't stop laughing....

Is it in bad taste to post these quotes/favorites as well as the link?

afang Mar 5, 2002 12:31 pm

sean, the link was very funny thanks.

My all time favorite however has got to be this one about Fish

doc Mar 5, 2002 1:24 pm

Let me give it some thought first - and perhaps I'll get back to you here! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Randy Petersen Mar 5, 2002 5:49 pm

Thanks, i never knew these threads existed. Good reading and all for a laugh.

I think my favorites ones are the ones from "Who We All Are" Very rare glimpse into the many types of humans we have on FlyerTalk. Combine those threads with the ones about why people choose their user names and you've got a lovely evening of great reading.

P.S. I actually think this thread would have been better suited in FT Community....

I look for more faves from some of the others. But sometimes it's not the threads, it's the person. For instance, I have always had the biggest laugh when reading the Arturo posts. I have no idea who this member is but they have brought many laughs to my face as i read and re-read their posts.

Any of the InnPoints posts from Villiage Idiot! Lots of laughter to be found there!

Anything from kokonutz, chexfan, or bollar.

The posts about Daisy the Sheep are extremely funny.

The big CO flap regarding the recent changes in the program, particularly the posters joking remarks towards Mr. Bethune.

And a few posts of my own! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Two wicked-funny “exchanges” that I recall…

http://www.flyertalk.com/pasttalk/ft...ML/002620.html

A thread where someone had the audacity to post the UAL 1K number…

Arturo says…”hmmmmm...... arturo cawl thes nummer an git fone sex.”

Violist replies…”arturo, getting screwed over the phone is not the same as getting phone sex.”

And

http://www.flyertalk.com/travel/fttr...ML/004091.html

An OMNI thread about who knows what…

smg77 says….”No, it couldn't be possible that the US is wrong. That's inconceivable. I only saw one idiot during the State of the Union and he was behind the podium.

Brian replies…”Are you positive you weren't seeing a reflection in your television?”

That one was so d@mn funny-- I was snickering about it for days. Talk about a straight-line.

ILuvParis Mar 5, 2002 9:04 pm

There is nothing posted more hysterical than Blairvanhorn's response to the poor unsuspecting person who innocently asked if anything special would happen if one were to qualify for UA Premier Executive during a flight. You begin reading and then gradually you are taken on a wild ride.... What a hoot!

www.flyertalk.com/pasttalk/ftpasttalk_forum/Forum50/HTML/007583.html

Almost as amusing are the subsequent posters who react as though nothing unusual has been said and get right back on topic discussing whether certain flights qualify for status.

Thank you, ILuvParis, for that link. You are right, it's hilarious!

My all time favorite was the April Fools Day parody of S.P.A.M.ers that took place before the S.P.A.M. forum was created. May have been very instrumental for the creation of the S.P.A.M. forum.
New incredible site for free miles!
And thanks for the other links been having a great time on the floor this morning.

Shoot! Another keyboard ruined (. .just finished reading the blairvanhorn 50K celebation link was drinking diet coke at the time of reading).! Thank you!! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif What a wonderful way to end the day!!

geo1004 Mar 7, 2002 8:42 am

My favorite is still Quiet Lion's comment in one of his trip reports when he called the UA 1K line, was placed on hold and forced to listen to the message "Please hold, while we continue to suck...".

paradocs Mar 7, 2002 1:08 pm

One of my all time favorites was a topic posted by lisamcgu that was entitled: Must...get off...FT. Boy, could I identify with that one! The whole thread is quite funny! Here it is:

http://www.flyertalk.com/milesfr.shtml

wharvey Mar 7, 2002 2:35 pm

UH paradocs... that link will not do anything other than bring you to the main miles board... not the specific thread....

You really don't expect us to search for it do you? http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

William

lisamcgu Mar 7, 2002 4:17 pm

Actually, my original post wasn't as funny as some of the posts on that thread. Everyone did a good job of outdoing the post just before.

Anyway, to quasi guote Comicwoman, "thank you, thank you, I'll be playin here all week."

paradocs Mar 7, 2002 5:49 pm

Wharvey, You are so right! Thanks for the heads up.

I went to the FAQ page to try and figure out what went wrong. I am still not sure but am working on it.

Originally I searched for lisamcgu's page. I highlighted and copied the url. That's what appears in my post above. Why isn't it specific to the page I wanted?

I'd appreciate some help. Thank you!

Frustrating!

Unless you access the Miles board from http://www.flyertalk.com/forumcgi/Ultimate.cgi the board stays in frames mode and only shows that milesfr link, regardless of the page you are viewing. To get the URL of an individual page in that mode, in IE you can right click and choose properties. Then you can copy the URL from there. I'm not sure about Netscape.

svpii Mar 7, 2002 5:57 pm

paradocs - allow me to answer so that people who really know will feel obligated to correct me with a better way http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

It has to do w/ the URL you're entering FT on to begin with, but that's another story..

When you're on the page where you want to copy the URL, right click on your mouse, choose "properties", select the URL text, then hit ctrl-C to copy the URL that shows up - this is the complete URL for the thread.. then go to where you want to paste it, left click your mouse to put your cursor there, and hit ctrl-V. Voila!

paradocs Mar 7, 2002 6:28 pm

(Edited to add that this URL seems to bring up a blank page. Sorry! I thought I did as told. I was on someone elses computer when I made the original post. Did that have anything to do with it?)

Let's try this;

http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/mileshead.gif

I really want to thank you both for the help!

Whoa! Not even close...

Here's the (very funny!) thread:

paradocs Mar 7, 2002 8:46 pm

Thanks Jon! Now that's embarrassing to post a wrong link twice! I finally came up with the correct one and emailed it to myself to check it.

I hereby promise to do that email check before I posts links on FT. At least til I know I have the hang of it.

Thanks everyone, you sure were patient with me!

Here is my favorite on stun guns on UA metal

http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/Forum50/HTML/008976.html

Several good ones

chexfan Mar 8, 2002 7:19 am

There are multiple ways to getting the exact URL, but one of the easier ones is to click on the "FlyerTalkers send this thread via email" above the first post in the thread. The new window will open up w/ the correct URL of the thread where you can cut and paste it.

Hope that helps!

Paradocs - what happened there is you right-clicked on the logo itself - thus when you selected "properties", you got the properties for the image of the FlyerTalkMiles logo.. click anywhere on the thread itself to get the URL for the thread.

Of course, I knew someone else would come in with easier approaches, and I wasn't wrong!

One that stands out for me was the one about the adventures of the "Secret Shopper". I think the guy worked for KFC once upon a time. I couldn't find the link but it was a pretty interesting thread.

seanthepilot Mar 9, 2002 9:42 pm

I think I remember the KFC guy...

The original post had something to do with secret shoppers jobs as passengers

This is awesome.... I love FT

I would go with many of opus17's posts, but I particularly enjoyed the one here:

(but the BVH UAL premiere tale was mighty rich!)

my favorite posts are those that care about each other here on FlyerTalk (they are often very [unfunny).

I, right now, think of posts supporting/praying/caring for JohnA and Raeban.
