Memphis- Tyson-Lewis?? Anyone?
 

This is a real spur of the moment thing.

I'm not a big boxing fan, but I find it interesting. I've never been to a heavyweight fight, and I figure this would be a good baptism.

There are TONS of tickets available. You can get very good seats from the box office. Of course, face value is a bit high. $2400 each, or $1400 each. the upper deck ones are $250.

But there have been myraid reports of scalpers who bought way too many tickets. Last time I happened on a situation like this, I went to the NCAA championship game with good seats for $20 each. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

I'd be willing to pay $200 for a decent seat. Plus I love LOVE screwing scalpers. Plus, it'd be an incredible adventure.

Anyone else remotely game for this sort of thing?

From my perspective...

If you want tickets, show up at the Pyramid, and have some fun with the scalpers. They are going to take the worst beating of all, as thousands of people bought tickets hoping to double their money.

There are THOUSANDS OF TICKETS left via ticketmaster.com.

If I go, I'm heading down there with a hotel reservation alone. I'll grab tickets when I get there from some poor scalper who is taking a huge bath.

IMHO if you really want to screw a scalper, simply never buy a ticket from these scum-o-earths no matter what the price. Buying their tickets just encourages them.

The only "sport" worse than pro-wrestling is pro-boxing. Disgusting!

Hmm, I think I have more respect for wrestling now that Tyson has been allowed back into the ring. Who needs standards or ethics when money is involved right?

Personally, I don't think that one need pass any ethics barrier to be allowed to step in a boxing ring. It's not as if he is a lawyer, accountant, doctor, etc.

I for one, would go for the spectacle. I'm hardly a big boxing fan.

FWIW- I have no probelm with scalpers in principle (although many are not-so-friendly). It's just a supply and demand issue, and they are a way of creating an equalibrium.

In fact, in this instance, they would be doing us a service. You see, I would never have bought tickets for the box office prices of $1400 for a lower level seat. Now, I might pay some poor sap $250 a seat for a lower level seat. I would not be able to attend, but for the $1150 discount per seat I'll be getting. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

I guess I just expect "professionals" to behave as such. Boxing, as any sport, has rules. Those who don't abide by them should be barred from competeing. By allowing him in the ring, they are sending the message that his behavior is acceptable and the only thing that matters is money.
