While it's not an "offical" Flyertalk solution, anyone who is registered on my Mileage Runner's Website can contribute to the Events Calendar. I'm more than happy for people to use this for scheduling FT Do's. Moreover, if there's sufficient interest, I can put a database together that would allow people to RSVP online.

If there's enough support for it, I'll go ahead and put it together. What do others think?

Matthew-

Just speaking for myself....

As stated earlier, we already have an events calender right here on FT. And most of the Do's have had online RSVP through the awesome websites that Markbach and Kluau88 have put together. I think we just need to encourage and gently remind the hosts of FT events to remember to use it.

In answer to your question Missy... YES! There are too many do's, gatherings, etc.

But that is what is happening as the Flyertalk community has exploded in ranks. Lots of people want to host gatherings. People want to meet other Flyertalkers, show off their city.

One of the questions for a Flyertalker now besides what airline to fly and what hotel to stay at is "which Do TO "do"?" http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

And a major point of clarification: THe Catman DOS were not ONLY one big dinner.Or even put together to drink large quantities of beverages http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif THere were other events surrounding them and I left it open for people to explore NYC and do their own things.

The CMD3, 2001 included:

*Meet and greet at Idlewild bar, East Village.
*Dan Hammer's first Brooklyn Reality tour.
*Many smaller lunches and breakfasts and other stuff on Saturday.
*The Dinner at Cite (which I'm sorry that everyone didn't get a chance to meet everyone. It was a wonderful group.)
*Post Dinner Cigars and cognacs and black russians and other drinks at the 53rd Street Cigar Bar, Sheraton New York (the ONLY good thing about that hotel.)
*Small Sunday brunch at Sazarc House, West Village.

They were a chance for my FRIENDS to come and meet each other and meet the people I hang with and talk about.

I just met LarryU at LAX for a couple of drinks at both the CO PClub then the UA Int'l FC room. Since it was just the two of us, did we just have a 'do' or a 'don't'?

Catman May 27, 2002 4:57 pm

My Brother and bodyguard Newself... in my definition you had a gathering! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Should add a subgroup: when TWO flyertalkers get together it's a RON-DEE-DO! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

All Flyertalk DOS and other definitions are COPYRIGHT @ 2002: THE CMS, LLP.

I hate the term "DO".

iluv2fly May 27, 2002 9:35 pm

How 'bout a "Pepper"?

Hunki May 27, 2002 10:08 pm

I always thought that the "Do" came from the second Catman gathering, ala "deux", or two.

Catman May 27, 2002 10:21 pm

Hunki, you are correct. I added it to Catman Do 1 because I liked the way it sounded.

TO keep consistancy.

Thanks for remembering. and I like the word "DO."

RichG May 27, 2002 10:47 pm

Plus, I always assumed the Catman-do is what gave Catman the idea of visiting Kathmandu.

(Unless, of course, he stumbled across this web page.)

missydarlin, I believe I have both Da Doo Ron Ron versions in my collection.

The 1963 original by The Crystals on CD and the 1977 remake by Shaun Cassidy on either 4-track or 8-track. Perhaps both.

I think it would be fun if we had a "do" where all the FlyerTalkers brought their dogs.

Would this be a doo do, or a doo-doo do? http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

I respectfully request the honor of the Pooper Scooper Concession Stands contract for any FlyerTalk do doo. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif

That would be a "Do-Drop."

MRLIMO, I once suggested a "Winnie The Pooh-per Scooper" to the Disney Stores/Catalog. You could hear the Jimney Crickets chirp.

Catman May 28, 2002 2:18 pm

If we have one for dogs, to be fair we should have a CAT DO for all those who are "owned" by Felines.

The Shaun Cassidy 8 track was my first major purchase with my own money. It took forEVER for my 7 year old self to save up allowance until I had enough.
