Fran, I don't think you could get anyone who could commit three weeks to watch your cat(s) (I have the same problem with my YAZ and EDDIE, but luckily I have a very reliable person who has a group of friends who can help out.)

Have you ever tried these people... Happy Tails:

http://www.veternet.com/petsit/Australia-PetSit.html

Based on their credentials

*Member of Pet Sitters International
<IMG SRC="http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/thumbsup.gif">Member of National Association of Professional Pet Sitters

... they would be the best and most relable and professional people to watch over your cat (s)

(FYI: if you are looking for a pet sitter he/she MUST belong to one of these organizations. They have to meet a variety of criteria to get approved.)

Honestly, I would be leary to let someone I met on a bulletin board in my home for three weeks. IN my case, even if I knew them for awhile. There is a short list of people I would have stay in my home for three weeks and watch over my YAZ and EDDIE. No offense to Flyertalkers. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

(although there are at least two Flyertalkers I would trust in my home with my cats.)

franjelley - these people are superb with dogs and they come back happier there than when at home! I *think* they also cater for felines as well:

Marendale Kennels, at Terry Hills. Ph 9450 1529. Joh and I will be away from about late May and middish June doing same 55555 deal etc. I have a very reliable friend who moves in and watches the place and dog when I am away. Saves him on rent, and gives you a cat minder and security at home. He "lives" on the computer, so would be in joy with the cable modem. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif Let me know exact dates and I can ask if you wish. He has a male cat he brings along for the stay too!

Does this mean that you will fly me to cat sit???

cranford May 13, 2002 5:04 pm

hahahahaha; well maybe if the stockmarket ever recovers, i might be in a position to do this, in say, 10 years time> http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

thanks glen for your positive response..i am pretty sure that if i keep whining about the problem, something will eventuate..this little cat is easily intimidated by other animals, and loses her fur so i am anxious to keep her in her surrounds if poss..

franjelley - good luck! Surely you mean 'keep meowing about the problem' ?? http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

I would love to come and cat-sit for three weeks. However, I would need to find a cat-sitter of my own! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

cranford May 14, 2002 4:40 am

Spiff May 14, 2002 7:59 am

Sure, I'll trade 3 weeks in Kentucky for 3 weeks in Sydney! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif (Or even a few days...)

franjelly,
I'm working 18 hours days right now(its my busy time of year) and a holiday in sydney (or really anywhere) sounds quite appealing. The busy times end this month and then I always take off somewhere although 3 weeks in one spot is probably pushing it. Send me an email with the dates you expect to be gone. It's probably a longshot but who knows. I come with excellent references from cats, dogs, and other people.

Wow, what an offer! Comfortable accomodations in one of the world's great places, high-speed access to FlyerTalk, and a little friend to care for & keep you company. If I didn't already have other travel plans, I'd be happy to volunteer for catcare duty.

wow ,well next time i must make this plea a lot earlier..obviously a lotta catlovers in FT..i should have known this from the photo gallery

ClassicalGal May 15, 2002 11:01 pm

Sounds like fun but there isn't any way I could be away from my job for 3 weeks right now! Perhaps one day I'll see Sydney!

fran,
maybe classicalgal and I can each do a week and a half. I'll do the first half and meet you when you leave and cg and do the 2nd half and meet you when you return. Your cat sitting by the heater will get double the entertainment. what do you think cg?
