But, don't the rules say you must travel in Coach? http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif

I remember from amazing race one that it was ok if they were in business class using a full fare coach ticket, it had to be in Y class. I can't remember which team it was, but they were coming back from China, and the reservations agent said we have business available, and they said they couldn't do it, but it would be ok if they paid for a full fare coach.

Yes, It was Frank and Margarite I believe and it was ok as long as they paid for Coach.

Think of the value of an Executive Platinum card when vying with competitors for standby! Or more simply, the value of an OAG or Palm Pilot filled with the numbers of FTers all over the world. You see no such things on the show so I'll bet they're all against the rules.

I can't help thinking this too while watching. They can't hold you back from holding status which will come up for any reservation you make - as long as you know your own last name or FF #, they can look you up and apply it to the flight, it doesn't matter who pays. So, you beat out your competitors for standby and get miles at the same time!

Any super knowledgeable FTer out there with lots of status on varied airlines who wants to couple up with eager like-minded SWF for the chance of a lifetime?

How long do we have to get our video in?

Amazaing race on CBS? I thought we were talking about the KLM 20 segment points match in the quickest time. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

And I was all excited about completing 20 segments in 3 weekends visting such exotic places Detroit, Columbus, Detroit, Atlanta, Columbus, Detroit, Nasville, Detroit again...

If I ever ended up on this show, I know my biggest problem would be the temptation to pass on the direct flight with the "other" Alliance in order to max out my mileage with my home carrier.

My team mate would kill me! We'd never make it past the first leg!!! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif

I love Amazing Race- it looks like so much fun! I've tried to talk hubby into applying, now discussing w/ my sis. Don't know how I could leave my kids for so long though :'(

Regarding status, the teams probably wouldn't be able to do anything that their camera-man can't do with them.

Very tempting but too many restrictions. Do we have enough time to study all the rules? And why can't I take my upgrade !!

A better idea perhaps is to have a FlyerTalk RTW amazing race sponsored by various airline(s) and hotel(s), who would provide the prize money in exchange for the super publicity for this event. Kind of like Randy's U.S. Airways mileage run but with a little bit of competition.

We can also add an FT get-together before the race to start the event off and a get-together after the event for crowning the winners. The adrenaline is beginning to rush just thinking of how big this could get.

Oh, and BTW, upgrades are definitely allowed http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif

Do the rules say anything about using ones "personality" to get a White Castle cheeseburger? http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Paul, on the first "Race", IIRC, they specifically mentioned that the contestants gave up the use of any Palm Pilots, GPS devices, compasses, maps, and atlases, etc., before starting the race, only using the cash they were issued before each leg.

I'm sure if the folks in the first group ran out (and the same would apply with this group), that the producers would furnish them with some kind of way to pay for tickets, so they could get to the pitstop, even if it were in last place.

I don't remember the rule on cell phones. If there are no rules regarding them, then it would be easy for an FT'er to post here, get enough numbers for others around the world, and have all the help they would need in traveling. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Someone also could be on top of things and find out where the closest Internet Cafes are, and get online help from time to time. Just another thing we haven't seen, mainly because of some of the locales, but highly possible in the large cities such as Paris.
