Chicago Do Restaurant Selection

Thank you all for you patience. Anna, Nick and I met downtown and did an onsite inspection and taste test at Leona's. www.leonas.com We will be having Chicago pizza and other tasty treats. There will be vegan options. (If you are vegan and don't do cheese, please email me soon, so we can make sure your needs are met.)

They are setting aside half the restaurant for us and we get the bar! The room has a great feel and we will be able to mingle and chat with each other. And for you United flyers, please note that this restaurant serves Pepsi products, so you should feel right at home.

There will be unlimited free soft drinks, coffee, and their famous lemonade. For those who want something stronger, there will also be a cash bar.

Details, details, details. I suppose next thing you'll want to know what time to be there. (Please note the above is tongue in cheek.)

We will be at the River North location, on Franklin and Erie from 7pm to 10pm.

It would be interesting to also know what day you will be there. I know it is a minor detail but one that I find somewhat interesting.

What - Dinner in the Windy city
Where - See above
When - June 1st, 2002 7pm
Why - Why not? Do Flyertalkers need an excuse to fly and eat and drink and converse?

Okay, Comicwoman -

Partial to Vegans, are we? What about AAers, OAers and the gay contingent?

Perhaps these excerpts from successive party planning memos will help you to be just a little more thoughtful in the future ( ):

TO: ALL

Regarding the anonymous note I received from a member of Alcoholics Anonymous requesting a non-drinking table, I'm happy to accommodate this request, but, don't forget, if I put a sign on the table that reads, "AA Only," you won't be anonymous anymore ...

I've arranged for members of Overeaters Anonymous to sit farthest from the dessert buffet and pregnant women closest to the restrooms. Gays are allowed to sit with each other. Lesbians do not have to sit with the gay men, each will have their table. Yes, there will be a flower arrangement for the gay men's table. Happy now? ...

People, people - nothing sinister was intended by my wanting Shadow to be our Krispy Kreme Santa! Even if the anagram of "Santa" does happen to be "Satan." ...

Vegetarians - I've had it with you people!! We're going to hold this party at Leona's Open Pit whether you like it or not, you can just sit at the table farthest from the "grill of death," as you put it, and you'll get salad bar only, including hydroponic tomatoes. But, you know, tomatoes have feelings, too. They scream when you slice them ...

Thanks for the memo! And as for vegans, some of my favorite FlyerTalkers are vegans and I am just being respectful of them. (Very rare for me, indeed.) Personally, I am a meat eater.
And when I first read "AA, OA, and Gay" I thought you knew me as you hit it 3 for 3. But then I thought that was American Airline and Oneworld Alliance.

We are working out the menu and the pricing will follow. I don't want to give a bad estimate now, so please continue to be patient.

Hubby is one, and am waiting to hear from the other two, and that will be at least a total of three dentists in town!

Should we start making appts for free 5-minute dental screening so that we could write off the trip?
