Luggage Advice
 

I'm in the market for a 26" roller with a removable garment bag.

I've looked at Tumi, Hartman, Pathfinder, Travelpro, Andiamo, Briggs & Riley and the only one that I like is the Pathfinder. The problem is in their flagship model, the X series, the wheels are exposed, otherwise I love the functionality of the bag. I purchased it but the wheel got bent on my first trip with it so I returned it.

Anyone got any advice?

This might be a more appropriate question for the Travel forum... and not the Community forum.

Based on what I learned here and epinions.com, I decided there are two fabulous luggage companies out there....Tumi and Briggs & Riley. I went with Briggs & Riley, primarily for the warranty. Another reason, though not the compelling one, was the impossibility of finding a good price on Tumi gear.

Mrs. Western and I currently have two rollaboards and love them. Highly recommend B & R.

Our Costco ballistic bags (about $100 each) are amazing. They have been hundreds of thousands of miles and just roll right along.

There's an extensive discussion under the Canadian AC Forum where I've written quite a long winded opinion under the posting, "Roller Suggestions." Since the posting there have been numerous FT's who've contacted me for additional information...which I'm always happy to do.

Since you're in Costa Mesa (incredible mall), there are some major luggage stores there that allow you compare some of the benefits and features of each luggage brand and line. Unfortunately, not all luggage pieces are created the same. Some offer great value, while many, are just plain over priced. If you are a true "frequent" traveler, then you should have luggage that can keep up with your extent of travel and wear.
