London 2/23 ???

I'm running to London 2/22 (on one of those greatt AA fares). I'll be staying at the Metropole Hilton for one night on the 23rd. Would be interested in meeting some fellow FT'ers for drinks/dinner.

Looking forward to meeting some new folks http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Sounds very much like a plan to me. See you there.

Sorry i'll be away in Barcelona for a couple of weeks - but enjoy yourself while you're here.

I will be in London from the 22-24 staying at the Metropole as well. This is a mileage run under the disguise of a late Valentines day trip with my girlfriend.

Look forward to seeing you for drinks. Maybe we should set-up a time or get real names to facilitate the meeting.

Hey by the way what was your rate at the Metropole?

Sounds like the Metropole will be a good place to meet.

I'm paying 65 pounds for bed and breakfast.

We can exchange more info by email.

Looking forward to meeting you guys http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

I would have joined you for dinner in my hometown, until I realised I'll be in LA that day on my own mileage run....!

Sorry! Next time?

My partner and I will be doing the UK AA run 23/24. Only 3 hour layover in LHR so not much time to meet up!

Anyone else planning to do the run and going to be in LHR early 2/24 let me know!

As there are no UAL flyers who have taken up the challenge, I may well be up for this one! I had lunch a couple of weeks back with comicwoman in Illinois and she survived the encounter and I'm not due across the pond for a few more days so it makes sense. Any ideas what sort of restaurant you'll be aiming for? I can probably recommend a few.

PlatinumFlyer-

I'm Zurich bound on the 23rd via DFW. Are you connecting there? I arrive from SJC at 1323 and fly out at 1435.

I don't have anything particular in mind, so if you have any good recommendations for dinner...I'm open to suggestions o)

My friend (another FTer) and I will be in London from March 3rd to March 6th. It's my first time to London and I was going to sign us up for one of the double decker tours that lets you get on and off, but the tour itself only last two hours if you take it straight through. Does anyone, either a frequent London visitor or a Londoner have any ideas about sightseeing tours/tips? We'd love to meet other FTers while we're there if anyone is in town.

You can get a travelcard for central London (zone 1-2) for under $6, for travel after 0930. It's good on the tube and local buses. London is a great town for walking around, or popping in and out of the Tube at various locations.

Suggestions for a first timer:

At least one museum (V&A, British Museum, Imperial War Museum)--figure on return trips to eventually get to them all

Cabinet War Rooms

Visitors Galley at Parliament (I've always gone in the afternoon around 3-4pm)

Theatre (half price theatre booth in Leicester Square)

Changing of the Guard at Buckingham Palace (does not happen every day)

Thanks. That's great stuff. I appreciate the info.

And don't forget the museums .... most of them are now FREE !! You could spend a few days in each of the Science Museum, Natural History Museum, etc.

Tube stop - South Kensginton and follow the signs (and the people)
