Rugby 7s anyone?
Okay, just got back from my first trip to Hongkers (HKG) in over a year, and forgot how much I missed being there. From the great experiences I've had here at Flyertalk and at the SAN get-together, I present this suggestion:
How about an FT get-together in Hong Kong for the Rugby 7s? Usually held in late-March. I'm sure we could work an airport tour courtesy of a former ATC-er there, maybe a tour of CX, a pilgrimage to the top of the Checkerboard to remember a once great airport, as well as the many hundreds of thousands of things to see and do in Hong Kong. Anyone interested? If not... does the idea of a FT Formula One get-together turn anyone on? Maybe a multiple gathering at some of the many races throughout the year? Since either of these ideas would require a great distance in travel, and good lead time, I present these ideas now so better to plan and organize resources. ------------------ preez mine da pratform gahp. |
I'm quite often in Hong Kong, but not sure if by late March. Let's see.
I like the idea of FT Formula One. Rudi is our sportsman, I think he knows the best sport events for get-togethers. Is it too late for World Cup 2002 in Japan/Korea? Still can find affordable tkts? |
7's sound interesting. Not sure how many Rugby fans we have on the board.

Played a lot of rubgy years ago and would love to see the 7's- also good way for me to get to HKG for the first time as well.

info on the rugby. Toxa, I'd also be more interested in the World Cup in Japan/Korea. Am planning a trip if we make it. Would appreciate any help .... John P. |
I'm interested, still don't know my schedule around that time, though.

It's been a few years since I've been to the Seven's, but I remember the excitement in HKG that week. I'm up for it if I can fit it into my schedule.

Well then, I guess the next step would be to see if people can make it. The 7s are held 22-24 March this year. For more info see http://www.hksevens.com.hk/.
We'll have to keep this topic active as more and more people find out what their schedule is like around then. Most of you are very familar with lodging in HK. If anyone needs some suggestions I'd be more than happry to provide some, as would most of the HK regulars. In the mean time, I'll see what I can do to arrange some tours... getting information, etc. We'll get webpages, billboards, television commercials, etc. going once more people have time to think about it and make plans, as well as more info comes in. This may be kind of nice me thinks! ------------------ preez mine da pratform gahp. [This message has been edited by ChuckDEE (edited 11-11-2001).] |
Not really on this topic, but is anyone planning to be in IAH for the USA (Eagles)-South Africa (Springboks)match on 12/1/01?

keep me on the list - I know zippo about rugby but that's an incentive for me :-)
cheers, Irene |
Count me in as an old, fat, slow tight head. I'm too broken up to play any more, but would be interested in seeing a match sometime. Any other forwards out there?

I'm interested for the airport/CX tours aspect. I'm not a rugby fan...
I'm frequently in HKG so keep me informed. |
Always keen to see a game (not missed a Scotland game in six years http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif ) and I'm considering going to the 7s, so do let me know if there is a get-together in HKG.
Likewise if anyone is going to any Six Nations games or Autumn Tests, feel free to give me a shout. I don't play any more; I figured if I wanted a scrum I could just go through Terminal 1 at LHR on a holiday weekend... Alastair |
