FT singles party survey

OK all you single FT guys and gals we need to have a party. It started on this thread Gay Flyers - Pax In the City - Nov. 9-11 - NYC where geo1004 asks where the single and straight FTers were.

Does this interest anyone besides geo1004, techgirl and myself? Before anyone could start organizing an event we would need to pick a city. techgirl mentions in the previous thread she would help as would I but we need to find out the location and would need organizers in that city.

Where would this event be?
Themes for a singles FlyerTalk party?
When?

Any and all suggestions welcome even those that don’t think it would be a good idea. Thanks in advance.

Thanks for getting the ball rolling on this Chanel !

My thoughts are this... let's pick a place that has good nightlife, reasonably easy access to flyers from all programs, and reasonable hotel rooms close to the fun.

My top five choices would be -

1. Vegas
2. New Orleans
3. Austin
4. Lake Tahoe
5. Cancun

I'm very willing to be on the committee to organize this and think we could easily do any of these cities without "local" sponsorship. I personally have been to Vegas, Austin, and Lake Tahoe enough times to feel "local" enough to coordinate activities in any of them.

Everyone else please chime in!

(edited for poor spelling and again to add the cities I would be comfortable coordinating...)

Going once, going twice......Looks like it's the three of you.

I like the city choices. They could each be a host city, if this were to become an annual or semi-annual event.

Event-wise, you would want to create something like a lip-sync competition in here. Giveaway neat prizes that either Randy and/or others donate, similar to "The Chat Game".

As far as planning goes, I've already done that, so I'll consult if needed. Everyone else needs a turn at planning an event - I can't hog all the glory!

We are open to all comments, but hedoman , I certainly don't think two hours and forty-five minutes is sufficient time on a Sunday afternoon of all days for everyone to weigh in...

Isn't Comdex week notoriously bad for getting decent rates on hotel rooms (or getting dinner reservations anywhere)?

I'm definitely all for prize giveaways... but perhaps something that requires lots of mixing and mingling (perhaps a "passport" with questions that requires signatures/answers from all the other attendees?). I'm also all for anything that keeps us out in the social fray... reserved tables, but not necessarily private rooms.

and a darned fine job you did... we really should give you a rest, although you have written a great primer for this event.

If there is sufficient interest in pursuing this, I will agree to act as hostess if I can pursuade Chanel and maybe one or two of the guys to co-host . I think with three or four of us we can overcome any obstacles that not having a true local would put in our way.

(edited because I'm ignorant when it comes to UBB Code!)

Rates have been slashed in Vegas also during Comdex week.
I hold a reservation for the BW Mardi Gras Inn right across the Convention Center at $40/night right now, but I am thinking of choosing a ncie hotel on the strip which start at $60 / night. So it's not that bad during Comdex week this year as it seems...

I just got back from SFO / Seybold, and expo traffic there was much slower than last year... I would expect the same during Comdex...

Sounds exciting! When you have a get together in Boston or NYC, I'll join in on the fun. I've been wanting to go to a FT get together but always thought it was a "couples" scene but with the recent posts it seems like there is quite a mix!

And what weekend would that be?

I don't think we have anything set yet. At this point we are figuring out interest for some point in the future... should we count you as interested?

Did someone say singles? Does this mean that we get lapdances without having to PAY for them? Wow, that sure helps the expense account.... http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Count me IN, dependant on other variables of course.
