- ANC RED-EYE
- 11:30 - depart for early lunch in Fox (brief stop to view the Alaska pipeline en route)
- Noon - lunch Silver Gulch Brewery Reservation for 6 confirmed; please RSVP to @ANC RED-EYE if you need to be added or removed from the presumed attendee list posted here.
- 2:00 return to hotel
- 2:30 shuttle/uber/cab to train (we want to be there an hour prior to departure so we can get tables together)

Per MSPeconomist As of September 20th, tickets were still available. The train has a capacity of 240 people, probably in three cars, and all tables seat four.
The train people told me to plan to arrive about an hour early for the train, but they don't deny boarding if you get there at 3:01 pm. A photo ID is needed to get your ticket. I plan to also bring a hard copy of my email ticket confirmation.

Another gorgeous day indeed! Looking forward to the train ride, should be lovely fall views.
I believe the last stragglers have now arrived, so we’re all set. We were able to catch some Northern Lights last night as well, what a treat!

Last straggler can confirm. Miracle I made that flight! Bloody awful construction on I5 closed all but one lane southbound, but Google maps still sent me thru there! Took photo of car parking spot at 11:01pm (checked time stamp just now), dep set for 11:25pm, but I opted to make a run for it not even knowing my gate. At a full run thru termnial from N-Gates (with Pre-check) made it on board at C18 by 11:12pm. Arrived here 2am, just after northern lights I hear.

krazykanuck, MSPeconomist, and beckoa - you all are at the same hotel, I believe, and @beckoa has wheels. Can you coordinate amongst yourselves to get to lunch?
ANC RED-EYE and GrjApp also have wheels, and we're happy to coordinate pickup for @nomadic.relief.
Seat 2A - I assume we will meet you in fox, unless you'd like to meet up with one of the groups and carpool?
plan for the day:
noon: reservation for lunch at Silver Gulch Brewing Company in fox. Recommendation is to leave Fairbanks early enough to make a quick stop at the Trans-Alaska pipeline en route. (Easy stop, right along the road).
no later than 3 p.m. (ideally 2:30 - we can discuss over lunch): recommended check-in for the train; since seating is not reserved in advance, we presume we need to queue well ahead of time.
4 p.m. - choo choo!

IRROPS on the beer train... So we came back to Nenana. So... Extra beer? And what is the process for compensation for those of us now certain to miss our evening departures?

At times we were stopped near the turnaround point, so you *might* have been able to jump out of the train and arrange for an Uber to meet you on a nearby road to drive you to the airport. This would have been the best case scenario. The train arrived back at the Fairbanks Depot around 10:20 pm.

Overheard in the hotel elevator:
Guest: "I've never seen such security in a Marriott hotel" [referring to the key card needed to call elevator and the key card back entrance posted as key card needed, but I've never observed this feature in operation, although the front door was set to require a key card when I arrived around 1 am by hotel shuttle from the airport]
Local: "That's because the Mecca (dive bar) is just across the street."
Note that I found this especially funny because some of our group reported that the bartender discouraged them from staying in the bar, and at least one of this gathering was a big Alaskan guy.
UPDATE: I'm now sitting in the A SkyClub at SEA, $400 richer thanks to a voucher for volunteering to take the next flight today. I hope everyone got out of town as desired. My flight was oversold by about seven and I was first in line to offer to take the next flight, confirmed in FC of course, for some appropriate compensation.
