FT is PAINFULLY slow

It seems to depend on the forum but it's taken almost three minutes to get to FlyerTalk Community and open a "new message" box.

Other forums are much faster than that (else I'd have lost interest days ago) but sometimes take many, nmany seconds to load.

Others disagreed when I first made such an observation, but I've logged in from home and work at all times of day, and am quite disappointed at the "improvements".

Of course I'm a crass ingrate for complaining about a free service, and a good one at that, but it hasn't stopped me yet. Maybe something will get fixed.

Well, my misery has company, but can we get the powers-that-be to do anything about it? I really enjoy FT but ....

I log on from Bangkok, and have had no speed problems at all, but perhaps that is due to to the local time being out-of-phase with that of the heaviest users.

... and if you don't get the improvements you're looking for, there's always the Suggestions forum to vent in. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

FT was extremely sluggish last night (6:30 p.m. or so EDT), but very zippy this morning (10 a.m. or so EDT).

I agree with the original poster. Moving from Forum to Forum, and even opening posts has ALWAYS been slow since the "new deal" hit the road. Progress usually means improvement.

This stark white background I find very hostile to old eyes. Went to look at More Miles and THAT has the old FT smilies, and a far more easy on the eye background colour. On the other hand, no-one is over there. Less than 200 registered users after 3 months http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Seems to be bogging down again (around 12:15PM EDT).

OK, I see what you're talking about. It is nearly midnight here in Bangkok, and the loading times seem to have increased by nearly an order-of-magnitude.

Yes, very severely so, again! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif

same here in San Francisco

So slow in SF, in fact, that the American Airlines forum will not come up before my somewhat liberal 3-minute system timeout! Sheesh! I've been trying for about an hour, and I'm all alone on a DSL connection.

Besides being slow, the new program has the unkind habit of taking you back to a top level when you hit "refresh" instead of really refreshing the page you're on.

FT was very zippy mid-evening Friday and again Saturday afternoon here in New Jersey.
