FT Mini Meeting in CPH
 

We are considering a Mini FT get-together in CPH around 7/1/01.

I'll be doing a guided tour in CPH. Everybody is more than welcome to come, maybe we could dinner as well.

More information will follow but first we want to see how many FT'ers are interested in coming. By the way: CPH is a VERY nice Airport and the SK lounges there are said to be some of the nicest in the entire * Alliance.

Where does UA fly that is closest to Copenhagen? That is the problem for me. Seems like DUS or FRA or CDG .... anyone know - Kempis perhaps (!) if there are sensible priced round trip SAS flights from any of those ports to Copenhagen? Ua does decent priced SYD-DUS or SYD-LHR flights but offer no sensible add ons.

Glen, what about a combo of paid-UA flights to Europe, then an award ticket to CPH? You can get a intra-European coach ticket on LH for 20,000 miles.

Thanks. Just checked, but exact conditions UA fare for the France wine tasting weekend (Nov) is $A500 less than same UA fare from here via USA to selected Europe from June 1-August 20. The penalty of trying to fly during the European summer, so need to scratch that one unless a fare change happens. If this one below was really bookable I'd look at it, but looks really weird to me, as LH only flies as far as BKK or SIN or HKG as far as I know? If they allowed a switch from Madrid to Copenhagen would be neat!

SK flies AMS-CPH several times each day and as you might know SK is part of *. The only other airline who has direct flights is KL. If you would like to fly OW you have to go through LHR or HEL.

I'll try to make to CPH that day (it's only 30 minutes away http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif)

On the 2nd of July I will hopfully be on SK945 to ORD. Therefor I would prefer something like July 1st or so.

So whats the Official FT hotel in CPH? If I stay for two days I am thinking about the Hilton which is located by the airport.

Not sure if there's an offical hotel yet. I've booked into the Mermaid for the first night (through AA vacations for the bonus miles). The 2nd & 3rd nights I'll be staying in a guest house (which had very good rates).

If you stay near the airport, rather than in central Copenhagen, will it be difficult for you to get around?

I think there are train connections from the airport to downtown Copenhagen so it still would be quite easy to reach downtown CPH.

Maybe I should hop that some Scandic hotels has became Hilton property http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif by the end of June.

As you might know Hilton has another 50K Gold Promo out now and its for that one I am trying to qualify this time.

The airport is the third train stop from Copenhagen Central. It's fast and easy to take the train.

I've just found a reasonable-priced fare on SR/LX to CPH and might decide to take it. Thus, please count me in as "maybe" as well.

I just found out for sure that I will not work this weekend. Is there anything planed for friday? Otherwise I am thinking of taking an early flight on saturday down to MMX and then the train over to CPH and return late on sunday evening.

I love love to join the meeting... unfortunately, this weekend is impossible to me. I have several things already set up for that weekend... and Bon Jovi is in town - they are giving a huge concert at the Olympiastadium on June 30... sorry!
But great to know that there are European FT's as well taking care of some meetings!

This looks like it's going to be a great weekend! I missed out on the DUS do last year so this one is extra special for me...

Is the dinner schedule for friday or saturday? Due to some changes at work I cant join the party until saturday. I will most likely take a flight that arrives @ MMX @ 10.20 on saturday morning. After that I take a bus to the city and then catch a train over to Copenhagen. This means that I can hopfully be in Copenhagen around noon on saturday.

Main dinner is on saturday. It will be a rather small crowd it seems, so it will probably be pretty informal.

I think I sent out a mail with some info on the tour, Tivoli and the dinner some time ago.

I don't think I'll make it...

I re-routed my BKK-ARN ticket via CPH but I think I'll be going though CPH a week or so too late.

I hope it's a fun get together.

Some things has come up for me as well and therefore I must cancel this FT event. I do look forward to meet all of you in NCE in november or somewhere else in Europe in US/Canada later this year.

I arrive in CPH one week from today and am looking foward to seeing the city and meeting with Goldlust and other flyertalkers.
