Dinner in SFO 9 Jun 2001?

Anyone up for dinner in SFO on Friday, June 8th? (Sorry, not the 9th as posted in topic title)

I think I'm free that night. What time? I'll be coming from the South Bay.

Iīd be interested - though I canīt promise 100% since my schedule is still a bit up in the air at the moment.

P.S. - lunchtime on the 9th would be a sure thing since I need to meet someone arriving at 1:50 from London.

I'm free after 6 pm. Alas, I won't be in SFO on Saturday the 9th.

Any suggestions as to where we should dine Friday? Anyone else interested?

I could make a lunch thing on Thurs. or Friday, but have to be @ OAK to pick up GerbilGirl(my SO) Friday evening.
Sorry....

Alas, I'm not free until 6 pm - others might be, though.

I'm a definite maybe - where and when were you planning to meet? (eg what time and which restaurant or what type of restaurant)

Spiff Jun 4, 2001 12:55 am

I am not too familiar with SFO so I'm open to suggestions... Fish? Sushi?

Thursday works for me too!
Dinner options in The City itself range across the entire spectrum. I know some very good places for Thai, Italian, Ethiopian, South African, you name it. Shame to say, but most of the places I know for sushi are pretty good, but not fantastic. I claim locals disease. When you live here, you're not always in the position of having to forage so I may be a bit off WRT the latest and greatest places.
Carta, kind of halfway up Market towards Castro, was where the dgold's gathering last year was and that was good Italian.

Unfortunately I am going to have to pass on this one. This will be the first week-end since April that I will be in town and I have been neglecting my friends.

I'll catch the next local FT diner. I had a great time at the first one I attended in April.

Dinner on the 7th could also work for me... Maybe we could make the 7th and the 8th both possibilities.

I should be able to make it on the 7th. It's in my calendar now.

For seafood or sushi, I'd suggest:

Zuni - one of the places that defines California cuisine and a personal favorite. Great oyster bar with huge selection. Terrific non-seafood menu, too. On Market Street about a 10 minute cab ride from downtown hotels.

Tadich's - downtown SF, very old time SF type of place. They have sand dabs, hangtown fry, menu like that. Waiters that have been there b100 years. Might be a little difficult to get a table a little earlier on.

Hamano Sushi - best sushi I've had in San Francisco. Great choices, always fresh, always packed with locals. Far enough from downtown and tourist ghetto and tucked away in Noe Valley neighborhood which fortunately most out-of-towners don't bother with. 30 minutes from downtown, easy Muni (underground) ride + 3 block walk.

Delfina - the hot new seafood restaurant in the Mission District. I've never tried it but have only heard great things about it.

Carta as jet'dillo mentioned is always good and I am friends with the owner. www.carta-sf.com for them menu. A few doors down from Zuni.

All of these places will run $25-$40 per person not including drinks, tax and tip.

spiff, do any of these appeal? I would be glad to make arrangements at any of them or help out in any way.

They all sound really good. Are any of them close to Berkeley?
