Dorian -- Please edit your link. It should be flyersplaces, not flyerplaces.

OK... I cannot get it under either spelling!
HELP!!!! |
|
Wow...how dumb am I?!?!!?!
I fixed it...thanx guys!!! Dorian |
WHy do I feel so negative about this new site and sighting? Cause I believe in entropy...Catman and others get mad because of the dorks on FT, start their own site which I predict within a year will have some of the same issues as FT ...some dork(s) or others will get stupid and rude and someone will quit the site in disgust...it's happened on EVERY message board I post to...in the meantime catman gets the gratification that people are sitting here moaning for him to come back...as a newish FT and a longtime lurker, I personally miss PremEx way more....I never saw him CONTRIBUTE to any flame wars or infighting....

squeakr,
I didn't leave the other board. I just found a more relevant home for my travel needs. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif But I still like those guys on AOL. They're a crack-up. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif And one more thing, Frank beats Doc hands down!!! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif Dan edited for a private joke. I sure miss Catman and PremEx on FlyerTalkboard - and (still) consider both of them to be real friends.
Flyers'-Places has been launched long before PremEx and Catman left FlyerTalk and was, when launched, not at all intended to be an alternative to FlyerTalk. To the contrary, the charter members of Flyers'-places wanted to complement FlyerTalk (without any comercial interests of their own) and informed Randy. The motiv behind Flyers'places was, after having seen multiple times the same questions being asked on Flyertalk (and responded to) about the same places (hotels and restaurants) worldwide, to create an easy to lurk board for the specific information. I guess it is easy(ier) to critisize than to do better ... |
I checked out flyersplaces and find that it complements this board nicely. I plan to post a review of the Anchorage Hilton there later today.
It certainly wont replace FT (and I don't think its trying to) but it is another nice resource. Besst regards, -levi aka eastwest |

Wow....that was quite the post!
Flyersplaces was 'launched' last year as a complement to FT. We asked Randy first...his thoughts and he supported our concept. The reason I started this thread was to let people know Catman was still around....for those who know him and care about him....that is all. Regards, Dorian |
I think FlyersPlaces is a fine idea and was honoured to be invited to become a Charter Member.
It covers an area not done well at all on FT and they truly complement each other. Only yesterday I added a couple of restaurant reviews, (not for reasons of any competition prizes either!) and if we all add comments more regularly on restaurants we visit round the world, it will surely develop into an even more visited and valuable board as word spreads, no matter WHO the contributors to it are. ------------------ ~ Glen ~ |
I can see that the site does compliment FT well...Interesting, and for the most part, seems well fashioned.
But what is this charter member, new member crap? More classes? It doesn't even appear to be based on contribution, but rather, some invite only "we're more special than you" stuff. No offense. But it appears from the outside to be some sort of "good ol' boys' club" leftover from FT. Maybe I'm wrong. I hope so. But that's how it looks. Not that my opinion matters, because it doesn't. And yes, if I had been invited, and MY name said charter member, I would have no problem with it. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif |
aflyer .. those that run it may have a different answer, but as I recall many who were active and observant frequent posters on FT (or elsewhere) either noticed or heard about tis site, or were advised about Fylersplaces late last year. As I recall anyone who signed up by a certain date (maybe end November?) was by definition a charter member. I was invited to sign up, and happily did so, as the concept is great, on that we both agree.
And I have now stopped rolling around the floor laughing about it being restricted to members of the FT "Good Old Boys Club". Ummm, I am the living proof, that was never a pre-requisite. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif The more like you who contribute to it, the finer the resource it will become. ------------------ ~ Glen ~ |
I smile at the irony. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif
Dorian, I'm glad you keep promoting Flyersplaces - it is indeed a great complement to FT. It would be nice to have Catman and PremEx and all the others back here though. FewMiles.. |
