Seattle Dinner DOs - Sept 23 & 24 2018 (Sun & Mon)
A Flyertalk friend and I will be in town to do the Boeing tour and to board the Amtrak Coast Starlight. I arrive Sunday and he arrives Monday, so we obviously need to do two DOs. ;)
Please post your interest (or commitment!) for either or both dates and we'll see how this pans out. Sunday dinner reservation for 4 people at 6:00 pm: Poppy 622 Broadway East Seattle, WA 98102 206.324.1108 Monday dinner reservation for 7 people at 6:30 pm: Maslow's by Farestart 380 Boren Ave N Seattle, WA 98109 206.588.4020 |
Aww man, I'd love to try Junebaby! But I arrive home from AMS that evening.
Interested in Monday, but it would have to be on a drop-in basis, depending on my jet-lag status. |
I can walk the .5 miles or so to be there. ; )
|
we are definitely in for Junebaby — I’ve updated the wiki wrt Monday — Chandler’s Crabhouse is closing at the end of Sep; rather pricey, but a longtime South Lake Union fixture that we’ve often enjoyed |
Sad to hear about Chandler’s. So many good places have gone in South Lake Union. Worked at Zymo and there were fun restaurants down there. Now, built up and crowded. Checked our schedule for Sept 23. Aw shucks...:(. ..we will be in Yellowstone. it sounds like fun. Everyone have a great time!! |
I will be inbound from NAN. :(

JuneBaby only has 1 big table, and I've been told that it is fully booked for Sunday nights until the end of the year, so you may want to have a backup plan. The chef's other restaurant is 2 blocks away (Salare) and is also spectacular. |

I hope you can get a Junebaby reservation, if not, we can try Lark on Capitol Hill. That is my favorite.
|
Gah, why did I not get email notifications for my thread from the 25th forward?! (This may be why.)
Anyway, what bummer news. I will call Junebaby tomorrow and ask about availability. If they're booked, I'll go with lalala's recommendation of Lark. (<-- After a second think, I'm not 100% on their menu.) |

Sorry for dropping this ball. Real life got in the way. I am back at looking for restaurants.

Hey, I just saw this and I'm interested to join for Monday 9/24. I'll follow along to see if there are any updates, thanks!

The Delta Fire, burning north of Shasta Lake, CA, has the potential to impact our Amtrak Coast Starlight ride to LA by closing off the tracks. Two days ago, containment was 76%, yesterday up to 81%, and this morning 87%. (Thank yous and positive thoughts to all agencies who battle blazes.) If the tide turns and tracks close by Sunday, Ted will need to cancel, and I will enjoy a few days in Seattle and book an award home.

Maslow’s has a Monday “Burgers and Brews” special event w Georgetown Brewing; not sure if that’s instead of or in addition to the regular offerings |
I arrived Los Angeles last night on the Coast Starlight, 15 minuets earl. Crew was excellent. Scenery outstanding. Food passable. Had private stock of adult beverages in my bedroom. SCA was happy to bring me ice. |
Can you add me for Monday night, please. |

Just updated the wiki; count me out for Sunday and in for Monday.

Last call!
The restaurants have their rules, so speak by 2pm PT or hold your peace till next time. |
Poppy was fantastic, and so was the company. We had eggplant fries, squash blossoms, flavorful thalis, and duck. I'd share some pics if I had a photo resizer on my phone.
Thanks to jrl767 and Mrs jrl767 for joining me tonight and for the pre-dinner Junebaby reconnaissance mission. See you all tomorrow at Maslow's. We've got a table for 7 at 6:30. |
^ thanks to boxo for recommending a great venue; Mrs767 and I are looking forward to meeting everyone tomorrow (as well as a return visit to Poppy :) ) |
Maslow's called to say we will be seated on the bar side due to a large party in the dining room.
See you in 4.5 hours! |
Thanks to each of you for coming out tonight. Until next time, safe and happy travels!
|
thanks again boxo ... it was great meeting all the other FTers ... safe and enjoyable journeys to y’all |
Thanks very much. Enjoyed meeting and chatting with all. I look forward to the next "do" in the Seattle area, or wherever I might travel.
