I suppose one could find interpretive room as to whether trading constitutes bartering. However, for your information:
As found on the Forum Title for :The Coupon Connection The exchange forum for legally transferable coupons issued by various frequent traveler programs (these include free car rental days, 50 percent off hotel stays and upgrade coupons). This is N-O-T a forum for anything related to the buying, selling or bartering of airline awards. All exchange as a result of this forum are based upon free issuance and community spirit. |
Bill,
Hello and welcome. FYI, the word 'trade' is considered a 4 letter word here. We usually say 'gift'. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif So for example I may give you a gift of... and you may gift me something. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif If you spend a day or 2 reading these boards you will learn a lot. I promise. Read your airline of choice board and the other boards on top. My favorite is coupon connection. After you read, you'll get the hang of it. You'll know what you can and can't do. It's amazing what you can learn here. Sort of a legit way to beat they system. A little knowledge is very useful. Keep posting question. You will usually get an answer within 24 hours...sometimes 24 minutes. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif Dan |
Bill,
I am not sure that I understand. Your Continental miles can be used on NW and the NW miles can be used on Continental. Did I miss something? RKG |
You shouldn't have any problems booking a flight on NW using CO mileage.
Continentals mileage program is called Onepass. Learn more about it at http://www.onepass.com I think you will find that there are many airlines available to you with CO mileage. Good luck (from a fellow Onepass'er) http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif -levi |
the problem is that they will not let me combine, my co and my nw..for a total of forty thousand to fly.........i was looking for some way to combine them.......thanks for your help

The only way someone can "gift" you 30,000 ff miles is in the form of an award ticket, and that also cannot be combined with your current NW ff account. Accounts can't be combined (with some airline and hotel exceptions). So usually a person has to decide which account (CO, HP, NW, AS, etc.) will accommodate her/his flight patterns, and use that account number on all tickets (before the flight). Now I usually put all my CO and AS flights on my NW account to help accumulate towards status. AND YES! today I made Gold Elite on NW! BUT I retain my CO account for HP flights (which do not count for NW except for connection to International flights) and also for the occasional telephone ff miles offer. Do not have an AS or HP account, but do fly them regularly due to my location.
When do you want the award travel? Where are you located? Mileage run? Have you checked into any bonus miles on the CO website? online purchase, double miles, etc. What I'm getting at is maybe you could look into trying to find a way to 10,000 ff miles on CO, and making your 40,000. All depends on the factors of the game. Good luck. Welcome. Linda |
Actually, CO is running a promotion through January 31 that would let you transfer miles from another OnePass account into your OnePass account. I don't know if that would work for you, but just in case, you can read about it at the OnePass web site, http://www.onepass.com.
