In Memoriam: we've lost auh2o

auh2o's partner of many years let me know that he died on Saturday. John was an original member on FlyerTalk. FlyerTalk was a small and intimate site at that time and was very social. Many of us knew and enjoyed John as we met at various events all over the world. He wasn't active here in recent years, though he was online reading. I am sorry that we have lost him.

I’m very sorry to hear this and fondly recall the times when I saw John. He was a rabid LA Clippers fan and was always quick to offer tickets when he couldn’t use them. He was a fun and knowledgeable guy and will be missed. My deepest condolences to his partner (also a FT’er) and all who are mourning his loss.

Another one of the good guys has taken off (sorry John). I met Goldwater several times back in the day. I liked him. Say hi to my/our friends that have departed this earth early.

Incredibly heartbreaking - RIP John. We met in 2002 at the Portland Brewer's Festival - my first 'Do' - and many, many other times after that. This pic is from the London DO in 2003. We watched him fight his demons and hoped for a better outcome.

Gutted. Simply gutted.

We did travel the world together, back when FlyerTalk was a small community. Dusseldorf, Sydney, Munich, London, Vegas, Auckland, Seattle, San Francisco, Tokyo. And his beloved L.A. Oh, God, and that one other time in Dusseldorf!!!

He was a complicated man who struggled at every turn with his weaknesses. But we loved him anyway. So so much!

I was totally shocked when koko pinged me.

John, I'll never forget our times hanging out- wherever we were. You were always kind, thoughtful, and simply a fun guy.

Rest in Peace auh2o.

Early in 2001, over pizza and beers in San Francisco we first crossed paths. Later in cities all around the US, and then of course that time in Dusseldorf .

John was part if the fabric that is FT. He still is. I am incredibly saddened by knowing he is traveling on, but as best I can, I shall make today a day for remembering the good times, the smiles, the vivacity, and the generosity that made him John to me.

Wow, all the FT old timers checking in. I only met John once but I was instantly charmed by his personality and thoroughly enjoyed our conversation. Another good one gone..

Met John many times over the years at Flyertalk Do's and private social events, going back to the famous 1999 "Party in Paradise" (in Honolulu). My condolences to his longtime partner, many FT friends, and family.
