Things to be Thankful for
Being the Holiday season (and Thanksgiving in the U-S, Canada celebrated a month before..)
I thought of this thread listing we have to be thankful for, whether it's travel related, frequent flyer related, or Flyertalk related. I have so many things to be thankful for, but I'll try to give some of the ones that most come to mind: *Having a job that allows me to travel. *Having a love of new places, new things and not being afraid to take a risk. *Have a bankroll of miles and points to treat myself to upgrades and nice rooms, and sometimes share my good fortune with my closest friends. *This Board, even though it sometimes disintegrates to childish, high school behavior. *Yaz and Eddie for letting me endulge in this board, although reminding me with their own "biting" humor when it's din din time! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif *United not going on strike right now, it's pilots getting a new contract, and I hope the mechanics there (and at Northwest) and the U-A flight attendants get fair deals as well. *A brain so I can absorb and learn from you Flyertalkers. *Being blessed with so many Flyertalk friends, who have touched my life and become family and the things they do. Just a few examples: >Rudi's good natured, welcoming spirit and humor (and showing me a love of Tescheur chocolates. >PremEx, for being the true BIG BRUDDAR and always looking out for me. You are the best man. >Dgolds and his heart and love of life and starting the Secret Santa thing again! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif >Punki's royal spirit. >Essxjay's bits of wisdom. >Jon Toner and his advice. >Quiet Lion's trip reports. >Randy for starting this thread >And you wanderlust, for so many things, and helping me develop the "no worries" attitude on life. Thanks man! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif Oh so many of you I am to be thankful for, don't think I forgot any of you if I didn't write about you here. Happy Turkey Day. Upgrades!
No seriously (well I guess I am serious about upgrades), my wonderful wife and daughter, my great friends and colleagues and all my new FTer friends, and the natural world that is full of wonder and surprises for me. |
On an FT note, celebrating my first holiday season as a member of FT, I am very thankful to have found other people who share the same passion in flying, collecting points and miles and sharing tips on how to maximize them.
On a personal note, I am thankful that the lady at the Washington State DMV Licensing Center didn't make a public announcement that chexfan failed his driver's test this afternoon. How am I to know that I'm not supposed to park within 30 feet from a stop sign? Seems a bit far for me! [This message has been edited by chexfan (edited 11-21-2000).] |
Freedom, health, and a desire to attain wisdom.

i am thankful for being healthy and living in a free country....

Freedom, health, and a desire not to loose your wisdom, Punki (see you after tomorrow!).

I am thankful for :
* A loving and (EXTREMELY, UNBELIEVABLY, INCREDIBLY) patient wife * Medical science and doctors, without whom my wife and I would be childless. * Caitlin, Victoria and Patrick. I learned more from them than I can ever hope to teach them. * Another year passing without the loss of a family member (and possibly an addition, depending when my sister has her baby). * My friends and acquaintences (on FT and beyond) who have enriched my life. * A kind and understanding boss who has made it possible to juggle career and family to the benefit of both. * The recovery of all friends and family members who underwent medical procedures this year. ------------------ "I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered. My life is my own." [This message has been edited by Jon Toner (edited 11-22-2000).] |
That little bell that rings just before the elevator doors open. I'd have missed many a ride while my face was stuck in a newspaper if it weren't for that bell. I'm thankful for that, that's for sure.

Life itself; for which I would otherwise never know the giddy joys of first class seats, upgraded rooms and Flyertalk friendships.

The Mets.
Not at all thankful for the Yankees. |
Air, women, friends, travel and beer. In that order http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif.

Good idea for a thread, Catman.
My family that is everything to me. The ability to start a new business, something I enjoy and love. Flying and Flyertalk. |

I'm thankfull that the majority of the people on this board, are pleasant, friendly, knowledgable and fun.
I'm also thankfull that I can ignore the others, though sometimes even they make me laugh, sometime with them, more often at them. Have a great holiday USA Flyertalk friends. Stewart |
I am thankful for so many things but here are just a few:
Have a great Thanksgiving here in the US and a wonderful weekend to our non-US members! ------------------ Regards, - Anna |
I am thankful for just one more day...

Onefreeman, I am thankful for..
That wonderful response. That YOU and Rae could be with us one more day and many many more days after that. That you made a post. That you both are my friends. Thank you. You put a http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif on my face. |
I am thankful every morning that I wake up...
- I have just enough money that I know I'll never go hungry. - I have a loving woman that is tolerant of my many peccadillos. - I have loving parents that are there when I need them, and don't even complain if I "disappear" for a while when I don't need them. - I have a personality that can find joy and humor in almost any situation, so I can enjoy the world even at its worst. - I have a ton of frequent flyer miles, and free upgrades! :-) - I have friends among the FT community - I live in the Puget Sound area, which I consider to be the absolute best place in the entire world in which to live. - I'm close enough to my phone company's central office to have DSL. All in all, I'd say I have almost as much to be thankful for as Punki! |
