Sao Paulo
I will be going to Sao Paulo Soon and was wondering where to stay. Travel Dept came up with 5 options:
Sheraton Montf. (I am an SPG gold) Inter-Continental Gran-Melia Renassiance (sp?) Cesar's Park Any recommendations? Help? |
I never stay in Hotels in SP (always go on personal travel, not business), so I cant help there. However, some related info:
The RCC club at Sao Paulo has some of the best showers & service that Ive enjoyed in all the *A network. Maybe one last thing regarding hotels, if the SP Cesars Park is anything like the one in EZE (Buenos Aires), then you cant go wrong with them. Else, I suggest you use the search function in the Starwood boards to check out the ratings on the Sheraton. ------------------ Gaucho100K [This message has been edited by Gaucho100K (edited 10-26-2000).] |
I stay at the Sheraton Mosfarrej.Nothing out of this world but pretty good.Has a nice lobby bar.Got a great upgrade as Platinum to a suite overlooking some gardens on a high floor. As I say it doesnt blow me away but have never found a reason to change.I can recommend two restaurants in Sao Paulo Cafe Antique and Barbacoa. The first is upscale and the latter is "rodizio".The city itself is charmless.

The thing you need to remember about Sao Paulo is that it is HUGE. Therefore, you would probably want to stay somewhere relatively close to where your business will be. Just for reference, I took a cab from the Melia to the Sheraton, in the morning, and it took 45 minutes. The Melia is nice, but I think its way overpriced. There are some nice restaurants in the adjacent mall.

I always travelled to Sao Paulo with a Board member of our company. The only hotel they would let us stay at was the Sofitel. I don't know the exact reason...but maybe it was because we took a helicopter (normal for Sao Paulo) to the office each day...and they had a rooftop heliport. Though, my boss (the Board member) said it was the only place anyone from our company would ever stay.
BTW, great hotel!!!!! Dorian ------------------ Dorian's Star Alliance RTW Price Chart: http://www.informationlab.com/rtw.htm Blondebomber's Star Alliance Comparison Chart: http://members.home.net/deercroft/starall00.html |
I've stayed at the Transamerica which has excellent brunches and is close to certain business areas. When I was there, the hotel was part of SRS and gave UA 1K's free suite upgrades. I don't know if that is still the case.
Jim_B is right. Traffic is hell in Sao Paulo so you want to stay close to the office. |
We stayed at the Ceaser Park, really nice, and helpful staff (as they should be, for the price). Very good base for walking around the central city (but make sure you don't get turned around!). The hotel itself is 1-1/2 blocks from the main st; being on a side street, you are in tuned with the "local flavor," but we did enjoy that.
