Are they getting paid enough?
 

I recently read a book about Air disasters, and the book claimed that more than 70% crashes are because of mistakes among the air traffic contollers and of course on pilots because of the bad info the ATC give them. Of course these mistakes were compounded when the languages do not match . Like ABC's 20/20 piece couple of months ago about runway near collisions. The one where Swiss Air was confused about where she should stop and all of a sudden she is in the path of an Air China 747, Luckily, Air China took off just in time.
So my question is are they getting paid high enough? Or they should be more training? As a FF I sometimes feel afraid to put trust into these people.
