royal brunei
Does anyone have any experience with royal brunei business class.I have just got a job there on saturday and have the choice of Singapore air economy or royal brunei business class.
I have picked the latter.Have I done the right thing or do I need to urgently change same? |
I would normally go with SQ but since you are in business on Royal Brunei, it is probably a good choice.
My experience with Royal Brunei was OK but my brother would occasionally get bumped when the Sultan was travelling and basically took over the plane (removed seats to accommodate more cargo, horses etc.). I am sure that is a rare event, but it can happen. [This message has been edited by BlondeBomber (edited 07-20-2000).] |
Blonde Bomber, when you mentioned the Sultan I remembered a website that shows pictures of the aircraft interiors.
Some of the luxuries on board would make any FFer drool. Posters can pick up a lot of ideas (dreams) to add to bagolds thread entitled "What would you like to see improved in the plane?". He who has the most toys... http://www.sultansflight.com/images/images2.html |
Singapore Airlines economy class - you get inseat video of over 20 channels, and free champagne.
Royal Brunei Business Class - wider seats, don't know much about movies ... but WAIT... Royal Brunei is a DRY airline - meaning there will be NO BOOZE served on board. Not even WINE. If you want your booze...then take SQ. |
BlondeBomber - the Sultan doesn't fly on Royal Brunei airlines. He has his own Royal Fleet. He has one B747-400 and one A340-300.
I know of a friend of a friend who works as a flight attendant for the Royal Fleet. Nice life. First - all FAs are female. They also have to be Muslim. Most of them are recruited from Singapore Airlines! However, they are treated very well. When they are based in Bandar Seri Begawan, they are each housed in their own bungalows with chaffeurs. They are on call 24 hours a day though. But when they fly, they overnight at ports of call in style. In Paris for example, they are housed at the Ritz. Everything and anything they charge to their rooms during their layovers are paid for in full. (I've known them to hold parties and order champagne and stuff and have overnight bills exceeding 10s of thousands of dollars and everything gets paid off without questions). Most of the FAs have solid gold rolex watches. Their basic pay (without flying) is around US$10K per month tax free. After each flight, each FA is reported to get another US$10K (tax free). The above individual I know was with the Royal Fleet for only about 2 years (they all have only 2 year contracts) and she managed to save over a US$1 million just for that. |
