SFO Area Over Thanksgiving

If anyone is going to be in the San Francisco area during Thanksgiving weekend I can use an excuse to get away from my crazy family ;-D
Honestly, it would be a nice time to get together and be thankful for all the fellowship here.

I currently expect to be here...then again, I live here so that means I'm not going anywhere. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif I'll watch as this thread develops, and I'm sure the other SFO FlyerTalkers and I can organize a few things. Maybe it will be a dry run for a FlyerTalk fly-in next spring, a la PIP & FAQ?

Not sure on my plans yet either, but if I don't go away I would enjoy meeting FTers.

If I don't travel for business, I would enjoy meeting Flyertalkers!

I am sooooooooo tempted!

No, wait, I'm hoping to be in San Francisco for the Folsom St. Fair.

No, wait, this is U.S. Thanksgiving in November!

Pencilling in the date and crossing my fingers that I'll be available...

IslandCub, easily confused in the mornings

is US-Thanksgiving in 2000 on nov-23 or nov-30? (and when is Canadian Thanksgiving this year?)

Rudi -- U.S. Thanksgiving is always on the 4th Thursday in November -- Novemeber 23rd this year...

I would love to join in, but normally I am in Chicago for every Thanksgiving weekend (big medical show).

Canuck Turkey Day is Monday October 9 this year. We figured we already had a November holiday (Remembrance Day, November 11) and there was this long stretch after Labour Day (first Monday in September) and the government got tired of people whining that they needed a long weekend in October to rake leaves...

Rudi Jul 19, 2000 1:46 pm

... the next question, without any possible serious answer, for me than regularly is: what will be this year's snow-/skiing-conditions in the West (Squaw Valley and Lake Taho-Stateline), the Rockies and in Taos - and in Whistler/Blackcom and B.C. during that US-Thanksgiving week?

I like early season skiing in the US (our slopes in the Alps usually open only 1-2 weeks before XMas).

Terrific! A FT get together seems possible.
Johna: Don't think of it as not travelling, think of it as everyone coming to meet you http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif

Considering all the helpful tips I've received from FT I'll even sponsor the first couple of bottles of wine.

Put me down as a maybe - if I don't make it for Halloween in the Castro I might make it for Thanksgiving, but this has to be decided still http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

Cheers

I'm heading out for Panama http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif Thanksgiving Day, but will probably be in town the week of Thanksgiving.

islandcub: FlyerTalk gathering during the Folsom Street Fair? Now that would be fun! (PS - I'll certainly be in town for that. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif)

islandcub Jul 21, 2000 8:53 am

dgolds: What would one wear to an FT/Folsom gathering? Well, other than flight crew uniforms?

Islandcub, looking for a grubby set of overalls, ear protectors, and those orange hand-held lights*

*get your minds out of the gutters or I'll call Cmdr. CatCop!

Rudi

Your best bet for skiing over that timeframe would be the Whistler area as normally Squaw and Heavenly etc don't open until later in Nov or Dec. As for Taos etc someone else will have to fill us in. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Cheers Scott

If any FT'ers want to get together over the weekend of the Folsom Fair, let me know. I live right in the neighborhood so I will definitely be there.

BTW Islandcub, there's uniform and industrial supply stores right near me, if you're really serious about that outfit.
