Boston July 11th - 18th

I'll be out at my companies Headquarters in Newton arriving on Monday night the 10th and departing on Tuesday the 18th. I'll be staying out at the Hampton Inn in Natick and would love to get together with the Flyertalkers in the area for dinner, drinks, golf or whatever is planned. I have a rental car and going downtown or wherever is not a problem so whats say we get together! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif

Just an FYI: There is an Boston get together happening tomorrow (6/28/00) at Rauxa's restaurant in Sommerville. For more information see: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/Forum95/HTML/000407.html

So, having another one in 2 weeks from now might be a bit tough.... but, you never know - you may get takers..

It never hurts to ask, besides I've never met any of the New Englanders yet and I've been to quite a few get-togethers. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

Scott,

I'm currently working in the Boston area & we could probably meet for dinner. I'm in the Wakefield area (about 12-15 miles north of Boston) and I have a car also. Wednesday nights tend to work best for me.

Sounds good to me, if you have a favorite place somewhere easy to find. I would love to have dinner and share some stories. Lets confirm it up say next Thursday in case anyone else will be available. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif

Scott: Rats - that's the first week I won't be there in many weeks. There's a chance I might be out on the weekend, if that's the case, I'll let you know.

markbach Jun 27, 2000 8:06 pm

You're in luck! I'll be in Boston the 14th to 17th. Send me an email if you want to get together. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

markbach

You've got e-mail !!

dgolds

Don't you know your required by law ( FT law ) http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/rolleyes.gif to be there that weekend. Besides I owe you that beer for that one you got me in the club. I'll e-mail you with where and when I'll be meeting markbach for dinner etc next week and hopefully you can make it. Weird that two bayarea FT'ers get together on the road more than at home !! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif

If anyone else is available please let me know as I throughly enjoy putting faces to the names and meeting everyone.

Well the week is approaching and I was wondering if you have a restaurant in mind for dinner. Say Wed the 12th, something fairly close to hwy 95/128 and around 6 - 7 pm'ish. If you have any preferences it'll work for me also. You make the call for where to go as I'm not very familiar with anything except Newton and Framingham areas. I look forwrd to meeting you next week. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

markbach

In what area will you be staying at and do you have a preference for a where to eat? I know you said to keep it simple and that works for me. Let me know.

dgolds

Any idea if you'll be in the area for the weekend of the 15 - 16th, and if so lets plan on dinner or something. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif

Scott: It's possible; I should know more in a few days.

markbach Jul 8, 2000 3:01 pm

Scott: I'll be staying with a friend right near the Boston Commons on Fri/Sat, and in the Financial District on Sun night. I won't have a car, but anywhere on the T is fine. If you need to make reservations, count be for 2, I'm sure my friend will come, although he's not a Flyertalker (yet).

BostonBoy Jul 9, 2000 8:09 pm

My schedule is pretty busy, but if you can give me a firm date I'll see what I can do.

If you're relying on T, a general tip...

If you're getting from Cambridge, Brookline, etc., to Back Bay (Downtown/Finanical District), or vise-versa, the T is excellent. But if you are not going to Back Bay, it is a pain. For example, if I'm going to Cambridge from Brookline, the T really isn't the way to go since you have to go via Back Bay.

When I say "T" I refer to the subway system, not the buses.

BTW, a must-do T experience: Red Line between Charles/MGH and Kendall is a beautiful water view and skyline view. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Tall Ships are in Boston 10 July through the weekend so you might want to check that out? Expect crowds.

Scott the flier Jul 10, 2000 2:42 pm

I'm writing this in the RCC at ORD on my way to Boston. Maybe Bostonboy could make a suggestion for a place down by the commoms say for Saturday night. Maybe that would be convienient for him and if Markbach needs a ride I could always pick him up. Does anyone have a preference for food ie: Italian, Mexican, Indian or good old fashioned New England fare. I willl research some establishments when I arrive in the area, probably tomorrow. If anyone has any suggestions please throw them out there as my Boston restaurant location knowledge is rather limited. I look forward to meeting everyone.
