Frequent flyers

I travel a lot to Cameroon(Central Africa)and Europe (France & Germany) with Air France exclusively. I wanted to know how to maximise my frequent flyers with some deals I may not be aware of. Also my wife and I have this dream of achieving 1 million miles on a frequent flyer program preferrably Air France though not restricted to it. Does someone know what to do and how much it might cost
Thanks a lot

If you are living in US, you might want to put those AF miles in a Delta Sky Miles account. Now AF and DL are members of Skyteam, maybe there will be more interchangeable benefits.

I presume with Delta, you could get points on some kind of mileage earning credit card which might be more difficult on AF Frequence Plus as a US based resident. Check out the Delta forum to see what sort of opportunities there are.

I have been flying AF from Paris to Douala several times a year but the miles take a long time to add up. Their double promotion with AF Frequence Plus recently was a welcome addition but such promotions have been few and far between.

If you use Delta at all in the US, you might appreciate that.

I still put all my North America to Europe miles towards my Star Alliance carrier and hope that I might be able to do something someday with my AF Frequence Plus account. I get free upgrades on my Star Alliance carrier (Air Canada) for the transcontinental and trans-Atlantic flights so I don't fly AF over the ocean.

. . . and welcome to Flyertalk. Look forward perhaps to some trip reports of AF Europe to N. America and to Cameroon.

And you could get a Amex DL Skymiles Optima credit card too! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

Something to consider: The many 'airline mariages' we have seen sometimes fall apart. For instance, Air France and Continental used to be very close and that relationship is ending. I don't see that happening with AF and Delta, but one never knows what lays ahead a few years from now.

So, if you fly primarily Air France, I would use their frequent flyer program - thereby enabling you to get closer to your 1 million mile mark without having to worry about AF switching alliances.
