Finally checked into the Four Points by Sheraton (near Central Station) last night just past midnight.
Doesn't boast a view as good as some others here, but on the other hand I was given an upgrade from my Superior room to an Executive Suite. Not bad for a Bonvoy Silver with not a stay to his name for a very long time! Must be one of those random space availability things.
Nice breakfast buffet on offer; caught up with a local friend and getting a bit of work done.
Look forward to seeing everyone tonight.

Parked at Casino and will walk across to Hyatt now.
Just as well I wasn't on QF881 today. Supposed to depart OOL-MEL at 12:00pm but aircraft was in BNE and turned around once already. Planned boarding was after 2:00pm with new aircraft that was boarding in BNE when I boarded the delayed SYD flight.
That would be an interesting story as would be QF863 connecting to QF1. Why does Qantas continue to sell short connections in SYD? Scheduled arrival in SYD is around same time as boarding commences on QF1.

Watson's Bay - A bit of history
Watson's Bay was named after Robert Watson (1756–1819), formerly of HMS Sirius. Watson was appointed harbour pilot and harbourmaster of the port of Sydney in 1811 and the first superintendent of Macquarie Lighthouse in 1816.
It was an isolated fishing village until development began in the 1860s.
A lookout was built on the cliffs by colonists in 1790. A signal station took over the role in 1838. To the south of the signal station stood Macquarie Lighthouse, which was later replaced by a near identical building.
On the night of 20 August 1857, Dunbar a sailing ship became shipwrecked against the cliffs below The Gap, with 121 lives lost. The Dunbar had mistaken the bay of The Gap for the harbour entrance. After this the red and white striped Hornby Light was also constructed.
