Starting a new thread dedicated to the FlyerTalk get together in San Antonio in June.

WHERE: San Antonio, deep in the heart of Texas!

WHEN: June 11 (Friday evening), June 12 (Saturday) and June 13 (Sunday).

YOUR HOSTS: AlphaSigOU, AusTXHiker, JAWS_II

RSVP: E-mail me with your itinerary no later than June 4 (so we know when you're coming)

PLANNED (but nothing definite yet... any suggestions?):

* RiverWalk pub-crawl
* Side trip to Austin?
* Texas Hill Country tour?

I added Friday evening to the schedule, in case some of you need to fly back on Sunday.

Two nights at the Hilton Palacio Del Rio on South Alamo Street (which I believe is a Riverwalk hotel.)

NOW IF YOU FOLKS ARE GOING TO START PARTYING FRIDAY NIGHT PLEASE STAY AWAKE LONG ENOUGH FOR THE CAT TO MOISEY ON IN AND SADDLE UP TO THE BAR AND HAVE A COLD ONE YOU! (IS THAT TEXAN ENOUGH?)

Some more intel for those planning to attend the FT get-together in SAT this June:

If you're planning to party on the Riverwalk it is highly recommended that you book a hotel room there (there's a Marriott (two of 'em), Hyatt, Hilton and Holiday Inn on the Riverwalk itself or within walking distance.

There's another strip of hotels near the airport that are cheaper but you're gonna be about 6-10 miles from the action. San Antone is prized for its FUBARed traffic engineering and is playing catchup after all these years to building and widening freeways to cope with the flow of traffic. Coupled with the "manana" attitude that is so much of San Antonio culture you have a maze of freeways under construction around the airport area, making for some monstruous traffic headaches!

OK, I got off my lazy butt and made the reservations. I arrive in SAT Friday 6/11 at 4:30pm and will be staying at the Hilton Palacio del Rio. [Catman's right, they'd better start putting in the special security measures now ] My flight out Sunday 6/13 is also regretably early at 3:00 pm.

It looks like a LOT of us are going to be staying at Hilton Palacio De Party (or whatever they call it.) I propose we use this as the MAIN meeting place.

And it's good it's on the Riverwalk because when I party I want to be as close to my room and my bed as possible!

Ok. Just I propose that there is a designated walker to help the partiers back to their hotels.

As LONG AS I DON"T HAVE TO DRIVE!!! I DO NOT PLAN TO DO ANY DRIVING in TEXAS.

I don't want to end up making a wrong turn and ending up south of the border (because I never been to Mexico, except Tijuana.)
