Cool I've spent 20 years on FlyerTalk

I just realized that as of yesterday I have been posting on FlyerTalk for 20 years. TWENTY freaking years!

My first post from May 13, 98, 9:19 am: Improve the program

I can't believe it. But I guess it's true: when I was first posting I was still on dial-up. And that post was one of the first posts ever on FlyerTalk. At 28 I was the 'kid' of the FlyerTalk pioneers, as I discovered at the Party in Paradise (the first Do ever) a short while later. The usernames in that thread sure do bring back memories!

Since then I've met many friends through FlyerTalk. Including my wife! I proposed...to another Flyertalker...on an airplane. And, shockingly, she said YES!

Time truly does fly.

Thanks for always being there for me, FlyerTalk! Here's to another 20 years!

Thanks....although when I pointed this out to my wife she shook her head slowly and said, 'Think of all the productive things you could have done with the time you spent on FlyerTalk over the past 20 years....'

Seems to me it's been a very productive use of time. After all, you met her - and you never fly in back with her.

We have enjoyed every year you've been here, koko.

It has been a good 20 years on this version of the board. I too have enjoyed it greatly and made some very good friends along the way. Who knew way back then when we started filling in Randy's pencil sketch with color what we would be able to create over the years? Knowledge, deals, Do's, and even Omni posts getting their own forum. And then it actually becoming worth a few million. It has been a good trip so far. It certainly has made being a travel geek a lot easier. :-)

You old farts! I'm still about 2 months shy of 19 years, nonetheless still worthy of having met not only the OP, but you on more than one occasion, too.

Congratulations on your anniversary. I'm kinda glad there's no timer on FT that would show how many actual years I've spent here. Not all wasted time, of course, but a possible regret when I'm on my deathbed and still haven't finished the Great American Novel I've been working on for the last 20 years.

20 years! Love it! I never knew that your wife is someone you met in Flyertalk. I know that MissyDarlin married a gentleman from FT but you too! How wonderful!

I too was probably using dial up in 2001 when I learned about FT (on a flight of course).

Only a relative newbie here on FT, but have sunk a few pints with Matt on several Continents.

Time flies.
