Yeah it's just no where near Sapporo.

Some ANA flights between HND and CTS are operated by Air Do.

There are actually a Holiday Inn and a Crowne Plaza in Sapporo. The Holiday Inn is further away from Sapporo Station but close to Susukino which is the main reastaurant/entertainment district of Sapporo.

I am mistaken, I thought someone mentioned the Chitose Crowne Plaza, but I see they did not. Sorry!

Yes, the shuttle bus pictured appears to be for the Chitose Crowne Plaza where ozflygirl747 may have stayed but I'm sure CMK10's reservation is at the Sapporo Crowne Plaza.

Speaking of hotels in Sapporo, I stayed at the Ibis Styles, one of the two Accor properties in the city on my recent visit. The other Accor property, the Mercure, is closer to Susukino, but I wanted to try the Ibis Styles since it’s newer and slightly cheaper than the Mercure. It’s two short blocks from the metro Nakajima Kōen station and within an easy walking distance of Susukino.

On thing I liked was a ’handy’ cell phone provided for the guests with free local and international calls and unlimited data during the stay. It’s possible the service is available at other hotels but it would be very useful for those dependent on hotels’ wifi or a visitor SIM which does not allow voice calls.

Is the Handy available to all guests, or related to Accor status?

It must be available to all guests. I no longer have any Accor status. I also saw one at the Park Plaza in Nuremberg.

Sorry for the confusion everyone re the hotel name. Looked back in Tripit and it was the ANA Crowne Plaza Chitose 2-2-1 Hokuei, Chitose tel 81 123 222 311. It's handy to a Royal Host diner across the road which is kind of like a Japanese Denny's

I realised that in my post I referred to the pic of the room as a Holiday Inn but I've now corrected the text beneath both photos.

A half day trip from Sapporo that I enjoyed was a visit to a restored Meiji-era village just outside of the city, accessible by train and short bus ride. I forget the name.

I would guess the best hotel rooms in town are the ones called "Grand within Grand," a special section of the Grand hotel, Sapporo, with much nicer rooms and service than the rest of the hotel, as well as an elegant club room (which on my rate, I couldn't use).

The Historical Village of Hokkaido (北海道開拓の村). Check the photo of a horse-drawn tram I posted in #48.

Rooms/suites cost between ¥83,876 and ¥616,100 per night for two people.

I was upgraded from a regular room when I grumbled about no inroom safes several times, so I wasn't aware.

It's a nice room but there is NO WAY it is worth that price, which is roughly what Aman Tokyo charges for a much larger room in a city where real estate is way more expensive. I'd say it's worth at most around Y50,000. I suspect that wholesalers like Rakuten travel must have discounts.

I can RSVP for this! First time going to a JapanDO, of which I heard many stories about -- I had just gone to the YvrDO last weekend and was at the sinDO in 2017.

If anybody is in Tokyo this weekend (It's a three-day holiday weekend in Japan as well. ), here is a taste of Hokkaido you might want to take part thereof.
