It's about time Japan DO will make to Hokkaido!
Dekaido Hokkaido!

Since I previously lived in Sapporo, I can suggest tips/directions as well. Y'all will have fun! Hopefully I can join

Have been to Hokkaido already so I’m not terribly interested, but I’m happy to help with planning (is anyone ever going to take me up on this offer?) and if there’s a post-DO to Vladivostok then I’m more interested in coming.

Intrigued by Vladivostok. I don't see any direct flights from CTS.

Yes, someone mentioned a ferry from Otaru to Vladivostok. Some years ago there was a ro-ro ferry service between Otaru and Vladivostok for shipping used Japanese cars to Russia but I don't seem to be able to find any recent information.

The only regular ferry service between Japan and Vladivostok I can find is a service from Sakaiminato in Tottori Prefecture via Donghae in South Korea. So it may have to be a post-Do in Korea followed by a post-post-Do in Vladivostok.

BTW a free e-visa to visit Vladivostok only seems to apply to the citizens of 18 countries listed here. Most attendees of Japan Dos are unfortunately not eligible. Sorry to be a spoilsport.

For Vladivostok I was hoping to go via NRT on S7 using Avios. I thought there was still a ferry from Wakkanai, but if we can't get the 72-hour visa free excursion then it's not worth it.

I haven't been to Japan in a few years and I want to explore more of the country. I'll keep my eye on this.

I have been guarding that weekend against work for a while already, so count me in for the Hokkai-Do!

However, without a transit visa or visa on arrival, count me out for Vladivostok - that visa is a sufficiently painful process that it'd need to be a proper trip for me to apply!

I have a conference in Oz a week before. Would love to make it one big trip, but might be short on time off...of course I could do 2 TPACs in proper FT fashion.
