I hate to pull the DYKWIA routine to make my 2nd WineDo, and 3rd consecutive WineDo 0/0.5, but if any chance for an extra seat, let me know! :o I might have a surprising amount of free time this coming weekend and be able to attend, if the waitlisted can't attend, of course. Don't want to jump the queue!
cliburn owlwoman msywings There hasn't been any movement on the list. Everyone is coming. (poo-poo). dh |

So complicated, it would never work :D
Buy a spot at the Do, get a number. That is the wine you must bring. Better than a random system by a wide margin. You get wine that actually works with food which is after all why it exists. |
This is an interesting idea, and one I'd like to explore more. I think the 30% Champagne is a little on the high side, based on this year; where I think 20% is more likely. I think we have some time to work out the details. ;)

With the permission of d'host, I will announce (Again, it fell somewhere in the flow of posts) that there would be at least three bubbles -- if not more-- served blind. All bubbles that I am aware of are at least 10 years old, and all bubbles are from champagne (there is one exception)

Does it then follow that all the champagne are from bubbles? :D (I took Logic in 1982 or so ... and my memory has been washed out by decades of bubbles :o )
If I read the thread correctly, the inventory is four bubbles. All bubbles that I am aware of are at least 10 years old, and all bubbles are from champagne (there is one exception). There should be something for everyone- at least 10 years, at least 20, at least rose, at least... |

I'm working with the monitors on sourcing a wine.
At Ozfest the monitors convinced me to bring a "good 'big' Aussie Red" (But not from the Hunter Valley :p). So I will be bringing a 2001 Kilikanoon Oracle Shiraz from the Clare Valley. |

No Bubbles!
At Ozfest the monitors convinced me to bring a "good 'big' Aussie Red" (But not from the Hunter Valley :p). So I will be bringing a 2001 Kilikanoon Oracle Shiraz from the Clare Valley. Decanted 1 hour. Pretty big, pretty fruity and pretty good. Beautiful aromas of both red and black fruits. Great mouthfeel with completely resolved tannins. Fruit is starting to mature and not a lot of nuance, not sure if it will ever come with this wine. But very, very good now if your in the mood for a larger scaled wine. Paired great with sous vide New Yorkers. Last bottle and glad I cellared. dh |

The Nigl isn't a dessert wine--let's move it up top after the champagnes. We may also want to check the Steinmetz after opening to see how it's going, may not be a dessert wine at this point. Besides, itsaboutthejourney's wine will be lonely.

I can't begin to tell you how many people say to me why didn't I remind them? Excuse me; just because you don't read here as often as you once did, don't blame me when there's no room at the table.

The Nigl gets good reviews on Cellartracker. Updated. |
We are bringing a 2007 Produttori del Barbaresco Riserva Montefico.
Also if I may hijack this thread for a moment, I'm organizing a Welsh brunch in Brooklyn for the AW5B project (link in sig) on Sunday morning. Details forthcoming in that thread. |
