I'm in, and the restaurant is your pick, but if your thinking ybor city I'd suggest El Puerto. The have an Argentine meat sampler that's killer.

I'd only suggest Berns if you hit at least 5 numbers in powerball

I'd be interested if you ever do a week night dinner (M-Thurs).

I threw Bern's out there as it almost always seems to get mentioned with discussion of Tampa restaurant scene. I have no real passion to go there, ethnic is more my style.

hmm ethnic, any particular inclination?

La teresita is great for Spanish, especially the cafeteria seating style and the croquetas. Ulele is always good for the atmosphere and food, great beer too. You'll probably have better Chinese option in Chicago, but throwing it out there Yummy House (I prefer the Waters Ave location) for Chinese. La Fiesta or Acapulco Grocery for Mexican.

Are you staying for the weekend? If you are staying in downtown Tampa, there is a new cocktail bar across from the Hilton, called the Hotel Bar.

Let me know what you feel like and I can throw in some suggestions but I'm ok with anything.

definitely my style, have been before & would love to return.

I am staying the weekend but have plans for all day/eve Sat. Flying out Sunday, so perhaps a good brunch somewhere or at the very least, a good grouper sandwich.

Mark me down as interested, I could probably sneak out of the office with enough time on Friday to get down in time for dinner.

would be great if you could make it down, per post #1, dinner likely isn't until 8pm at soonest and likely near airport so hopefully that will allow a later flight for you.

Looks like there's a mid-afternoon flight on WN that gets in at 7 PM which would be perfect. And I rarely have court on Friday afternoons. Sounds like the perfect combination!

Was my Fav!!! place to eat during my 5 years in Tampa. One thing I never found out, what are those cookie/cake things in the jars on the counters called? They were a fantastic addition to my cafe con leche.

If I could plan for May now, I'd probably book a flight and come hang out.

Cheers

Closer to the date (say late March/April) we'll firm things up as far as venue. The dinner itself is for sure going to happen.
