Note to the organizers of future Solstice DO's. The party in Anchorage is the weekend before if Solstice falls midweek.

20.4 miles per $$ spent on Uber via the AS card?? Lol. I wasn't aware of any AS affiliation with Uber - so do tell if there's a secret!

Got super lucky in Denali this afternoon. Decided to explore the trails around Eielson, gave up on a tough one and got back just in time to accidentally run into Seat 2A. Cleared standby onto his bus. Must have been a lucky day as momma bear and her two Cubs decided to cross the street in front of our bus for a close up not too long after i got on his bus.

Post Updates to Thursday's schedule

We have a new opportunity on Thursday for a tour:

Alaska Airlines finally got back with me and we have a time for a tour.

The question is, what do we want to see from AS? They would like to know, and I'll be sending them an email tomorrow afternoon with our requests. Previously we've explored their baggage well, dispatching and cargo to name a few.

This creates a change/solidifies Thursday's activities then, moving ATC earlier in the day.

Post 2 is where I've been maintaining the schedules and changes.

I understand this is a late change and may not work with everybody's schedule. However this should prove to be an epic day.

~Thanks.

Very cool!

For those of us on the later flight in to BRW, where are we meeting for dinner?

Post Lunch options at ANC Thursday June 22nd, 2017

After our tour with the tower, we'll have an hour or so for lunch.

Imagine most of us will be staying landside. Thankfully there are several good options (and some very limited as well)

From anchorageairport.com:

Pre-Security - Level 2 (Ticketing)
  • Upper One Lounge/Restaurant
Next to Grant Aviation ticket counter 6:00 a.m. – 1a.m.
  • Cinnabon & Yogurtland
Next to Exit Lane 4:00 am – 2:00 am
  • Grizzly Pizza and Wings Restaurant
    6 a.m. – 12:00 a.m. Take away counter: 5 a.m. – 10 p.m. 907-929-9300
  • Hudson News & Gifts
Next to Delta Air Lines Ticket Counter 9 a.m. – Midnight
  • Hudson News & Gifts
Next to Exit Lane 9 a.m. – Midnight
  • Starbucks
Across from Alaska Airline's Ticketing 24/7
  • Norton Sound Seafood House
    Next to the Exit Lane 9:00 a.m. – 12:30 a.m.
Several of these have served for various FT meetups. Both Grizzly Pizza and Wings plus Upper One have views of the tarmac, whereas Norton Sound is limited service with food being passed thru from the secure side where the main restaurant is. And if all you want is some java, that's covered too.

TBA There are a few options we're looking at.

And yes BR=Alaska Lounge.

I think this was announced before the rebrand by AS.

And congrats on your upcoming post #1000

Stay safe

No joking people...after a close black bear sighting on our hike at Crow Creek in Girdwood today and being stuck at the trailhead where a sixteen year old kid died today from a bear mauling, make sure someone has bear spray if you plan a hike up Flattop with Jackal. We do live in the wilderness with just a little bit of civilization stuck in it.

Um, there's a hike up Flattop? News to me. I think we were planning on a light lunch and maybe a stop at a brewery or two before heading to your place...

I have a deal with black bears. I generally stay off their mountain and they generally stay off W54 Street. It has worked well so far.

With severe storms and possible tornados forecast near NYC, I took the weather waiver and switched to a very early flight. JFK is different at 430am.
