No posts since 17MAR? Well, I guess things up there should start thawing out about now. So, I’m booked.
I’ve never been to BRW, and the Alaska DOs are always so…interesting. With the DL and AS divorce almost final, I was able to book some award space just before the judge’s gavel came down.
So, here’s me:
MON 19JUN DL2793 SEA>ANC arr 23:18
TUE 20JUN AS50 ANC>SCC>BRW arr 18:12
( I get to stop at Deadhorse Airport, yay! )
Tukkumavik Suites
WED 21JUN AS50 BRW>ANC arr 20:51
SAT 24JUN DL822 ANC>SEA dep 00:40

I think i had like my 3rd of 4th schedule change. Last one was upgraded to F on a BRW flight and then another call a few days later with a downgrade back to coach. They really cant make up their mind on combi or not. Earlier this year another BRW flight went to Combi.
I still need to get approved for time off work.

OK I am getting ready to book my fill in for Saturday June 24th. If I leave Bobs BBQ at a sensible time - 10.30 pm ON Friday 23rd - get back to my hotel then on the Saturday there is AS55 to BRW via Deadhorse leaving ANC at 07.37 and arrives at 10.53. Then my return is AS50 19.04-20.51 to ANC. I know there is always risk -but I feel this is the least risky option. I have my flight out of ANC on Sunday June 25th DL2044 leaving at 00.50 into SLC.
Do y'alls think this is probably my least risky option? I will worry about what to do for 7 hours in BRW later.

For those participating with events in Anchorage, here's an update for the 22nd of June with an action item:
The tour of TSAIA is scheduled to begin at 2 PM.
They need to know the number of people attending to schedule the appropriate vehicle. So please reconfirm your attendance of this event.
And we've got a new event this year- a tour of Anchorage's tower with TRACON!
I'm still working on what time we'll have the tour of ATC. Those attending the tour please PM me with the following:
Thanks!

It wasn't that muddy when I went in summer. Weather varies, low 30's to low to mid 40's, it can get to 50's but not super common. Hopefully it will be windy (even though it means colder) because it keeps the mosquitoes away. The last couple days have been in the upper 20's with snow.

You should be fine with light weight hiking boots, jeans and a wind and water resistant jacket. Don't forget a hat and sunglasses. Even when it is cloudy you can still get a lot of light, especially that time of year.
I would recommend a lotion or cream with DEET to keep the mosquitos away. Sprays can be hard to apply if it is windy.
Please these remember that these are the Alaska State Bird and harming one can lead to a fine and jail time. As posted earlier a sacrifice of a small child or dog is preferred to keep them happy
