CHICAGO - Flyertalk Cajun Seafood Dinner Do - Tues Oct 4
 

Hey all, a fellow FT member and I had dinner on Monday night at Mad Boiler, a cajun seafood restaurant. The seafood was cooked perfectly, the following is how one orders:

For the cooking (all done in one bag), one chooses a type of seafood: Shrimp (Head on) • Shrimp (Head off) • King Crab Legs • Snow Crab Legs • Crawfish • Mussels • Clams • Lobster (Whole) • Lobster (Tail) • Blue Crab • Dungeness Crab

Then sauce: Garlic Butter • Sweet Chill • Coco Curry • Cajun Louislana Dry Rub

Then spice level, 1-4 chilies

Finally, any additions such as: Corn • Sausage • Potato • Bread • Jasmine Rice

I chose the head on shrimp w/dry rub, 3 chilies, and added sausage & potato.
Friend chose crayfish w/garlic butter, 3 chilies, corn

We were warned that the dry rub is especially spicy & did we really want 3 chilies, we assured the waiter we did.

Seafood comes out in the bags that the items have been cooked in, one then empties the contents into a tray & digs in.

Restaurant does supply plastic bibs & gloves. We wore the bibs and skipped the gloves.

ALL ARE WELCOME, who's interested in dinner?

Time: 7pm due to Blackhawks playing at 7:30 on same night, by 7pm, restaurant should be cleared of any Blackhawk fans attending the game

I 've had this one on my radar for quite a while - even googled reviews I thought of sending you the link but didn't. Regardless you found it without with me - I did see your earlier reference to it. Providing nothing untoward happens I will be there.

I forgot to mention in the first post, this dinner is one where you dig in with your hands and get messy, you will go through a lot of napkins. (so I would suggest that you don't wear your finest clothes to this dinner):D

Count me in too! (Hope i don't have to cancel; I'm really looking forward to this.)

Maybe for now (again); coming back from the west coast that day.

Also, there is a Blackhawks (preseason) game that night, and 1045 W Madison
is in the heart of the pregame scene, so I'd expect parking to be more difficult
than usual.

Well United has those $139 round trips again so I'm in. I can't get to ORD until 6:30 PM though so I'd prefer the 7 PM start.

7pm is the time as there is a Blackhawks game that starts at 7:30, by 7pm any game attendees should have left the restaurant. Glad you guys can make itnext time you two!very good!
