One minor consideration re parking... Indians at home every night 9/10-9/20.

I would also "vote" for Hofbrau Haus and to invite any agents we know at CLE.

Downtown Cleveland is easily reached from the airport. The 9 is a showpiece in the heart of the City, a remodeled 1906 bank building. It has luxe interiors and a stunning view from the Azure Sun Lounge on the rooftop. It's a Marriott Autograph property. A perfect choice—if I do say so myself. http://www.metropolitancleveland.com/

Looks like a nice joint. Have only walked by. Can't think of a better occasion to give it a go.

Pick at date - or two. Monday-Tuesday-Wednesday work well. I know Fridays could be an issue for some. Weekends tend to get booked up as well.

Like that won't be a zoo at Oktoberfest time? The best choice is The 9.

RNE, why is this Akronite trying to highlight the sparkling new Cleveland while Clevelanders are stuck in its past?

I've worked downtown for 17 years now (on E. 9th, E. 6th and Public Sq.) and haven't yet gotten off my lazy $%^% to go over to the 9. I hear it's awesome and have been looking for an excuse to go check out The Vault. I like your suggestion.

Awesome, indeed! I had a hand in its design. You want to take the reins from me on this?

Henry Meyer becoming chairman is a sweet irony.

CLE Good Riddance Smisek Do

I'll be visiting CLE Sept 10-12. If anyone is setting up something, I'm in.

Not a United frequent flyer; however, if held after the Jewish high holidays, this could serve as an excuse to come visit my med school student daughter.

Celebrating this weekend

I'm in CLE this weekend, then off to VIE by way of IAD and FRA. Will celebrate everywhere I can, SFH II has treated me very wrong, been cursing Cap'n Jeff since May!! Happy days may yet return!

rolltribe Sep 8, 2015 10:44 pm

Count me in. Rooftop is probably still open for the season at the 9. And yes, I say invite the UC agents as well. They've always gone above and beyond for me. I'm not naming names, but there a definitely a few there that I know from conversations that will be keen to celebrate.

What potential dates are we looking at?
Think we can convince Captain Denny to come again and join the celebration?

Are weekdays or weekend days better? If the latter, then Sep 26 or Oct 3 are potentials. As noted above, we want nice rooftop weather. Will those dates conflict with other downtown events, sports?

Definitely invite local UA employees. And former employees, too! Speaking of which, I bet Jeff Smisek could use some good cheer right about now! :D

Let's encourage our friends in other cities to fly in for the CLE Do.

Midweek is better for me. 9/26 will be in Chicago, so that weekend is out for me.

lincolnjkc Sep 9, 2015 9:39 am

Never done a DO but as long as I'm in town I can't think of a better reason to start... early in the week or weekends tend to be better for me... but subscribing to this tread to try to make whatever is decided work :)
