Remember to PM wharvey when you ship your gifts out (including contents and tracking numbers) and when you receive presents (including contents)!
This wikipost is not a completely authoritative resource of Secret Santa progress, but a resource to see what everyone has received
Don't forget to include pictures if you can!

Alternatively: To include pictures in your posts, upload your picture to somewhere on the internet (a list of sites can be found in the wiki here). Then, use the image tags to post the picture, making sure to use the URL of the picture itself instead of the webpage ([IMG]the URL of the picture[/IMG], making sure that the URL contains the .JPG/.PNG/.GIF/whatever).

PM will come tomorrow, Santa! It's early morning and I don't feel like researching for some of the answers tonight.

After filling out the questionnaire and sending the PM, I realized it may be a helpful item to also include age. I realize that to some degree this is not relevant, however buying a present for a 25 year old male or 55 year old male may vary wildly, same can be said for 25 year old female or 55 year old female (who says she's still 25 ).

If people wish to include their age in what they provide about themselves, they are free to do that. However, I will not make it a requirement or ask for it as part of the process.

In addition, I have gotten several submissions where people are not following the basic directions on titling the PM to me. Understand, if you do not follow the simple steps.... you will not be included!

Understood, seems the right way to go about it.

Just made me double check my own PM and all seems well, but an FYI in the OP:

Subject Line: <your FT handle> Secret Santa 2014. For example, it should say "wharvey Secret Santa 2013"

Santa Wharvey,

The Elves will head back to work after the Jewish holidays.
Mrs HeadElf has suggested a theme this year for the elves in the workshop.
The theme is Baby.

Later Boss.

An etiquette question

I was just looking over recent posts in last year's FTSS thread, and I saw several about recipients not thanking their Santa. O.k. I understand the concept of saying thank you for a gift, and it is appropriate and just plain good manners to do so, but when the giver elects to remain anonymous, how does one adequately say thank you? Perhaps this year's wiki could cover expectations on that front? Should a recipient post thanks in the thread if their giver remains anonymous?

Guidance on this point would be appreciated, and perhaps setting a "minimum manners standard" might help avert hard feelings later.

And having organized gift exchanges and cookie swaps in the past, I would like to say how much I appreciate Wharvey's hard work on this complex event!

I think people were disappointed by a lack of posts on the thread acknowledging that gifts had been received. Generally, I think it's considered good form to at least post indicating that you've received a present, and what it was.

It would be nice if we could all post what we received simply because packages go missing and items within packages go missing for various reasons during the holiday season. UPS/USPS/FedEx tracking could show as delivered but the package may actually be sitting in a snow bank at the wrong house to be found in the spring thaw. My snow-birding neighbours from the next street over brought over a petrified moldy package in early May that contained a third attempt by a certain gift company to correctly personalize an item I had planned on giving to a Santee last year.

I'm not suggesting that everyone needs to gush about their gifts or upload photos ready for a Martha Stewart Magazine, a simple list will do.
