HKG DO? Expression of Interest
 

While I'm a bit new to the scene, but having been to DOs at SIN and TYO, I thought, how about HKG? As an ex-local, I can do most of the ground work and possibly lead a day trip or two as well.

As for dates, probably end of Q3 or start of Q4. It's just after the typhoon season, with the weather starting to cool down and less likely to be humid and/or raining. The Columbus Day weekend in mid Oct comes to mind as a possible date? (Not that HKG celebrates it).

Anyway, it's just an idea at this stage. Drop a post here if you would be interested in HKG, and if I get at least a few yes's, I'll put it into motion. :)

Sounds good to me. I have not been to HKG yet and would like to go with a DO group that knows the area.

I'll be in Asia in mid October and would consider attending this as my first DO if the dates were convenient.

So, count me as a maybe?

Colour me interested. HKG is not too hard to get to.

I would love to do a do in HKG but October is out of the question for me. However, if November ends up on the table, you can put me down as a solid maybe :)

Note that it's going to be either mid Oct or this new date - if we keep going date hunting, we'll never get there. :eek:

Count me in! As I'm local, any dates are good for me but Nov 8-9 sounds ideal and, if required, I'm happy to help with any organisation.

Sounds good and that would dovetail with Veterans Day (11/11) in the US (a holiday for some).

Sounds good to me. ;) Although I could be biased as I am already planning to be in Thailand at the same time and HKG is but a short hop. :p

Without having looked at flights or accommodation I would have to suggest that October is better for us but only as we start a 66 day trip in late November.

Awesom Andy, as a 'Do organiser, I suggest you pick dates and run with it. A straw poll through the thread might guide you in picking those dates. Not all dates will work for all and you can't please everyone.

Columbus Day this year is Monday October 13th.

One thing to consider is to avoid the Mid-Autumn Festival while while generally in September can be as late as early October - that's not an issue until 2017. Moon cakes are always welcome. :p

Of course for some Antipodeans, early November Works really well (this year 1st-4th represent 'cup weekend').

Anyhoo - there is a sale on for Qantas at the moment so watching with interest.

November 8-9 would be great.
