We have a reservation at Spain (http://spainrestaurantny.com) in the W Village at 8:00 on Saturday, Nov 4. This place has been open since the 1960s and feels like it hasn’t changed a bit since. That also means this is a cash only establishment.

I was in a bit of a hurry and my limited Spanish skills were failing me, but it sounds like they can do family style if the group prefers. I did not have a chance to ask about corkage.

Plenty of seats still open!

I would not bother since what they have on offer runs from $25-30. Even tho Spanish wines are generally inexpensive in the US, why not just buy their wines for near what they will charge for corkage?

Babysitting #1 grandson> PinStripeFlyer. Would have loved to have real Spanish food again, especially after trips to MAD and BCN.

Next time.

Looks good for me. Driving from upstate, allowing an extra hour for the drive so this should work. See ya there. And, extra hour of sleep Saturday night too. Nice.

Apologies, I have to bow out. I now have guests in town and while I would invite them to join (assuming there was enough room), unfortunately Spanish food is not on their to-do list for NYC dining.
I hope to see this group again soon!

Hello again everyone! Sorry for the extended hiatus, came upon some employment turbulence and had to find some smoother air. Things are all clear now and I want to get our next meal on the calendar - Romania on the evening of Friday 6/15.

Location is still TBD between Sammy's on the LES or another place out I heard about out in Queens - I'll visit and settle on one sometime in the next week. Meanwhile, please let me know if you think you can join us that night so I can get an early idea of headcount.

Details to come!

FWIW, I asked a Romanian co-worker for her advice; she said most of the good restaurants are in Woodhaven, including Romanian Garden and Harmony Terrace.

Thanks the the tip! Romanian Garden was the one I planned to visit in Queens, but I will check out Harmony Terrace too.

We're confirmed for Friday 6/15 8pm at Romanian Garden in Sunnyside. They're happy to accommodate family style if we decide to go that route. Plenty of seats still open at the table for now. One of our first-time attendees has just moved back to NY after 4+ years living in Bucharest, so we should have an expert on the cuisine there to guide us. There are upwards of 10 Romanian wines on the list, but I can also inquire about corkage if anyone is interested.
