Social Event Organizing Service
 

Please forgive me if this thread competes with the purpose of the forum. However, I couldn't think of a better place to post where I could receive insightful information.

As part of a school project a group of students will be creating a social event organizing service. It is planned to be free of charge and will help organize a variety of events. There are many times when you just want to meet new people with whom you share the same interest and the service would be designed to do just that. Users would have the ability to create an event and have others join. Users would be ranked on a variety of components such as rate of attendance among other things. Interaction of members would be facilitated through other social media such as Facebook. Now the million dollar question, If you had the opportunity to use this service would you? If not, why? Any other input would be greatly appreciated.
