Cancelling, for a Good Reason

I'm going to have to cancel this year, Dan. My daughter, who lives several states away, is coming back to Austin that weekend so Mrs. Middle_Seat and I can meet her new "he's special" boyfriend.

I very much enjoyed going on an earlier BRT, and hope to participate in #15 (or will it be #14 v.2 ?).

I hate doing this and I hate even more doing this last minute but I'm afraid I cannot attend. My work schedule this year has been insane with last minute changes and it's been changed again. I had to move a trip I'm taking with my Dad to accommodate work and this was the only weekend it worked for.

I love you Dan and I love Flyertalk and the BRT but as my Dad literally created me, I had to put him first.

I hope to be there next year.

Another heartbreaker.

I've edited the OP (original post).

Less than 2 weeks to go. There are plenty of seats available.

Family first.

Just got off the phone with Fiorentino's. They've made room for us at the usual time. 4:30. I've asked that Joe be our waiter again. ^
Please note: everyone pays for what they order. We do not split the bill. If you order pasta and a coke, that's what you'll pay for + tax/tip. If you order a steak and a beer, that's what you'll pay for. Remember to bring cash. They only allow 1 credit card to be charged.
If someone plans on ordering a bottle of wine, don't. Last time someone (cough) did that, the bottle of red wine was warm.

One last thing, Fiorentino's is a red check table cloth type of place. Don't order anything fancy. Stick to the tried and true ie pastas, chicken, and veal.

I know stockmanjr is joining us for dinner. We'll be able to provide a ride back to Manhattan for anyone that wants to join us.

Dan -- I believe this place has some BRT history to it, as a few of the participants have been known to stop in for a quick one on at least one occasion. Though it is probably fair to say that sending friends there is a good way to diminish the number of friends one has...

This is very true. During the bus breakdown in 2011 we found some refuge here and I gleefully steered a few people back there last year. I have a great photo of YEG Excited, Jackal, another FTer whose handle I forget and I lifting our PBRs. Of course Danielle, Howie's friend is photobombing it in the background making it even better. I'm going to miss this place this year as much as anything else.
