Hope we can see past the big engine.
All the other F windows are taken, mostly singles.
Could that be . . FT'er plane geeks? (Like me?)

Arrives past 11 PM, guessing too late to visit the IAH lounge.
But we'll do the LAX one fo sho.

Any recos on a 4-star Houston hotel to Priceline for 1 night?
Doesn't have to be near airport as we're driving.
Just want something really nice with a little price.

Let's hope they don't run out of champagne.
The Hilton in Americas in downtown is pretty nice. That would be my recommendation, or there are hotels in the galleria area if you are looking for shopping close by. It really depends if you want to or what you want to do during your layover.

Boeing managed to deliver exactly 4 787 aircraft in August, and a whopping 16 for the year so far.

Good luck everyone. I hope you have changeable/refundable fares.

I am fairly confident that the 787 will be delivered and certified before/right on-time for the Nov 4 flights. I do have a refundable fare though.

Didn't Air India hold up some if the deliveries?

I'm actually quite concerned about the deliveries happening on time. Deliveries have been slipping to the right at a rapid pace because of the GEnx engine problems...

Unfortunately, UA's 787s are powered by GEnx instead of the RR engine.

A second engine was found to have similar cracking problems. The engine was installed on a 787 that had yet to fly, so I assume not the UA bird set to fly away by the end of the week.

However, while I do not see the engine issue delaying the first delivery, subsequent deliveries maybe impacted.

Count me. I am there. I will be "slumming it" in E+ on the flight. Current seat assignment in 19D. I did try to process an SWU for this flight, but there are only 5 seats available for upgrade, and it is still a month out. (Yeah, I know....never burn an SWU for a domestic flight....you don't have to tell me that it isn't worth it, and probably won't work. I figured I would give it a shot. It may just work...And I figure UA may have something special planned for the F and Y passengers on this hop.)

I just really hope that there isn't some bonehead mistake by UA, and they end up swapping out the 787 with some ghetto-bucket A319 for this flight. If that were to happen, I would be seriously POed.

Hopefully it clears.

I tried the same thing with an SWU. No dice. Only 5 spots left in Y or F. I seriously doubt that there will be any upgrades for this flight - even TODs. The front 2 cabins will almost certainly be sold out by the 4th.

I am flying in from SFO on UA1610 arriving 4:41AM, seat 7A - RPU applied and seat likely to change.

I am currently in 20B on the inaugural UA1116. RPU applied but I have no illusions of clearing. Right now i'm just looking for a window seat to miraculously open up otherwise 20B is where I'll be.

I am flying home from ORD on UA1645 leaving at 12:15PM, seat 1A if anyone is heading back to SFO.

See you there.
