I am shocked to hear that Sara Lee is now a bimbo!

Dov,

Well, Sara Lee only gets to display her bimbo baking assets in certain markets (primarily N. America) ...

I arrive LGA morning of Dec 10, leave on the 1pm Dec 11 flight, so it looks like I won't be able to join in the fun.

Hmm...I also arrive on the morning of Dec 10, but at JFK. It seems that you timed (and placed) your flights perfectly.

I like the Jewish Kosher Food Do!

You think maybe I should go on to the "MAYBE" list?

Also- there's Ben's Kosher Deli 209 W. 38th. Good food w/o tourist attraction atmosphere.

I think you should definitely go on the possible list. In fact, I have just added you to it despite the fact that I have absolutely no idea of how to pronounce your user name.

We currently have the 2nd Avenue Deli chosen but in the end, ysolde will have to make the final decision after speaking to the manager. It is much too early to do that as we have no idea of how many people will be coming.

The issues he will have to settle with them are:

1. Can they reserve tables for the number of people we will have?

2. Will they agree to give separate checks for each person, based on what he ordered? (My experience with other Do's has shown that this is very important.)

3. The exact time. (It can't be too early, but we have to remember that we have people flying out that evening. If someone has an 8 pm flight from LGA, what time would he have to leave for the airport, taking into consideration rush hour and the TSA?)

Oyyy, vas is das?

What is so important that day that you can't get your tuchas to the 2nd Ave?

If only it were still on 2nd Ave!

Now presuming I'm in town that day, I have to haul mine all the way uptown to which ever one Dov chooses wherever that is now.

That's a different thread: The Far Out (West) Orgy Do, LAS, Dec 14-22

It is by invitation only. So far, invites have been sent to:

Sister Mary Bambi Takamoto
Traveller's Incredibly Gorgeous Blonde Sister
Scoow's Sexy Sister-in-Law
Michelle Pfeiffer
Sarah Palin

Replies started flooding in immediately! All refusals -- and several accompanied by restraining orders.

You are now on the "Possible" list. Let me know when I can promote you to the "Definite" list.

Well, when you put it that way... Absolutely nothing.

Dov, you can add me to the definite list. I am one of those who has to fly out that evening, but Canarsie's lunch order sounds delish. At least I think it does. Many of those words do not appear on the typical southern menu, so I may use my overseas approach to ordering. When I don't speak the local language (which includes NYC), I resort to, "I'll have what s/he's having." or "What is that?" as someone walks by with something that looks good.

scoow, you are now officially on the "Definite" list.

I have to admit, however, that I was a bit concerned about you being able to understand the locals and vice-versa. After all, there is only the very slightest relationship between Georgian and New Yorkese.

For example, when a New Yorker says, "Tanks a lot" -- he is not telling you that he just spotted the 2nd Armored Division driving down Fifth Avenue.

(And, as I learned to my dismay, when a young woman working in an Atlanta shop says, "Have a good one" she is not making an offer, as a Brooklyn woman would be, but merely saying goodbye.)

Fortunately, Canarsie is fluent in both of these languages and will be able to translate for you.

2nd Avenue Deli has much better food. I am seriously tempted to come up to NY for the day for this, but hard to say what my calendar will look like in December.

But Ben's is on the site of what had been Lou G. Siegels' back in the day, a place I often ate at with my father and grandfather. My main memory is of the little tubs of melted schmaltz on the table. My parents had their wedding reception there and my brother and I took them there on their 25th anniversary to celebrate.

mhnadel, I will put you on the "possible" list and hope for the best.

After all, if we have people flying in from foreign cities such as Tel Aviv and Atlanta, your trip would only be a short hop in comparison.

Is it too late to move the location for this meet?
